Underwhelming effort as favorite

Jung and Sam Alvey fought to a split draw (29-28, 28-29, 28-28) at UFC 254 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
ANALYSIS
Jung, who entered as a hefty -310 favorite, appeared to be well on his was to a devastating loss before finding his range over the course of the final five minutes. Facing an opponent who displays zero footwork, Jung foolishly spent the first two rounds throwing bombs from the bleachers. Very few of them connected, and Alvey was able to fire off counter strikes. Over the course of the final round, Jung wisely leaned on short elbows and jabs and had much more success in the process. Jung is just 26 years of old, but the fact he struggled with an aging veteran like Alvey isn't a great sign. He will have to be better his next time out.

Jung (undisclosed) will face Sam Alvey (undisclosed) in a light heavyweight fight at UFC 254 on Oct. 24, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
Jung withdrew from his scheduled fight against Ed Herman on Aug. 1 for unspecified reasons. However, he'll attempt to improve to 3-0 under the UFC banner against Alvey. Jung most recently defeated Mike Rodriguez via KO (punches) in December of 2019. Alvey is coming off a layoff of his own as he was handed a 180-day medical suspension for an undisclosed reason in May. The suspension came after he lost to Ryan Spann via split decision at UFC 249 in May as he's now lost four consecutive fights. Jung has advantages in both height and reach.

Jung (13-2-0) is scheduled to face Ed Herman (24-14-0, 1 NC) in a light heavyweight fight Aug. 1 at a yet-to-be-determined location, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Jung and Herman were initially slated to fight one another at UFC Oklahoma City on May 2, but that event was scrapped due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic. Though the UFC hasn't officially settled on a location for the Aug. 1 card, both fighters will prepare to return to the Octagon for the first time in 2020. Jung last fought in December at UFC Busan, defeating Mike Rodriguez in the first round via knockout.

ANALYSIS
After going 2-2 over the first four fights of his MMA career, Jung has settled into a groove, reeling off 11 consecutive victories. Herman also owns a win over Ibragimov, who he defeated via unanimous decision at UFC Moscow back in November.
