Snaps brief losing streak
Jacoby defeated Kennedy Nzechukwu via TKO (punches) at 1:22 of Round 1 at UFC on ESPN 50 on Saturday in Nashville.
ANALYSIS
It was Jacoby's best performance in the UFC and one that should save his job as a result. In desperate need of a win on the heels of back-to-back decision defeats to Azamat Murzakanov (unanimous) and Khalil Rountree (split), Dustin ate a left hand during an exchange along the fence before firing off a right that sent Nzechukwu crumbling to the mat. He jumped on top and fired off some additional strikes before referee Gary Copeland had seen enough. The stoppage may have been a tad early, but it wasn't awful. It would also ultimately go on to win him one of five $50,000 Performance of the Night bonuses awarded on the evening. Jacoby has legitimate power and is durable for a big man, but he also has zero history of defeating better competition. Perhaps this effort will get him going in the right direction.

Nzechukwu fight scheduled
Jacoby will fight Kennedy Nzechukwu in a light heavyweight bout on Aug. 5, according to Nolan King of USA Today.
ANALYSIS
This will be a second opportunity for Jacoby to get back on track. After suffering a split-decision loss back in October 2022, he lost via unanimous decision to Azamat Murzakanov at UFC on ESPN 44. Meanwhile, Nzechukwu is fighting off three consecutive finishes, two TKOs and one submission.

Picks up second straight loss
Jacoby lost to Azamat Murzakanov via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC on ESPN 44 on Saturday in Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
It's been a rough last five-plus months for Jacoby. He was victim of a horrific judges call in a split decision setback to Khalil Rountree last October and wasn't competitive in this fight until Murzakanov faded badly in Round 3. Worried about the power of his opponent, Jacoby had all sorts of issues getting inside against Murzakanov despite being the considerably larger and longer man. He was at serious risk of being stopped late in Round 2 only to be saved by the bell. Murzakanov's poor cardio gave Jacoby a chance to rally in the final frame, but this fight wasn't as close as the 29-28 scorecards would lead you to believe. Dustin had won six straight prior to these back-to-back defeats, so his roster spot isn't in jeopardy, but he better find a way to emerge victorious his next time out.

Taking on Murzakanov in April
Jacoby will fight Azamat Murzakanov at a UFC event on April 15, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacoby had won six straight before dropping a fight to Khalil Rountree in October on a controversial judges' decision. His opponent will come into the fight with a perfect 12-0 professional record and a 2-0 record within the UFC.

Victim of horrific judges decision
Jacoby lost to Khalil Rountree via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
There are seemingly multiple poor judges' decisions every single week, but this one appears to be indefensible. In a fight spent entirely on the feet, Jacoby deserved to win each of the first two rounds, while Rountree had a claim for Round 3. It appeared to be extremely straightforward. The final striking numbers were 122-88 in Jacoby's favor. Neither man landed a takedown. It's difficult to see how judges Ben Cartlidge and Chris Flores arrived at their decision, but the final result was the end of seven-fight (6-0-1) unbeaten streak for Jacoby. It's a monumental setback for a guy set to turn 35 years of age in early April.
