Undergoes back surgery
April 30, 2021
Carnelossi has undergone surgery for a slipped disc in her back, Guilherme Cruz reports.
Carnelossi managed to emerge victorious despite reportedly having a hard time walking during the fight because she was in a lot of pain. She indicated that the surgery went well and will now begin recovering and rehabbing in Jacksonville over the next four weeks before returning to Brazil.
Victorious in UFC 261 opener
April 24, 2021
Carnelossi defeated Na Liang via TKO (punches) at 1:28 of Round 2 at UFC 261 on Saturday in Jacksonville.
It didn't come easy. Carnelossi started slowly and was clearly behind for the majority of Round 1 before Na's gas tank completely evaporated and allowed the Brazilian to regain control of the fight. Carnelossi kept up the pressure and had Na in dire straits in the final seconds of the first frame before dispatching her with relative ease early in Round 2. Carnelossi has lost just twice in her career, to Angela Hill in her first UFC bout back in September 2019 and to Amanda Ribas in her first pro bout way back in September 2014. She has some potential and is worth keeping an eye on in a relatively thin 115-pound women's division.
Will return in April
March 8, 2021
Carnelossi will be fighting Na Liang at UFC 251 on April 24, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
Carnnelossi hasn't stepped in the Octagon for an official fight since September of 2019. She was removed from her bout against Mackenzie Dern in April after she was unable to make travel arrangements and was not booked for another fight for the rest of the year. She lost her UFC debut to Angel Hill via TKO (doctor's stoppage) and is hoping Liang has a similar experience as it will be the Chinese fighter's first official fight with the promotion after signing a deal back in January.
Scratched from April 25 bout
April 9, 2020
Carnelossi will no longer face Mackenzie Dern on April 25, Ariel Helwani of ESPN reports.
Per Sherdog, Carnelossi is unable to make travel arrangements to make the April 25 fight, so she will have to wait for her next opportunity to return to the octagon. It remains to be seen exactly when she will be back in action, but the UFC has lined up Hannah Cifers to replace her on the April 25 card.
Facing Mackenzie Dern
January 27, 2020
Carnelossi will take on Mackenzie Dern at UFC Lincoln on April 25, reports.
Both fighters will be looking to bounce back from losses. Carnelossi's loss to Angela Hill in September represents her only UFC fight to date. Dern won her first two fights with the promotion before falling to Amanda Ribas in October.
