Mullarkey has been suspended six months by the Nevada Athletic Commission pending medical clearance for a right wrist injury, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Mullarkey earned his first UFC victory by defeating Khama Worthy via KO (punches) at UFC 260 on Saturday, but he apparently sustained an injury during the matchup. He'll undergo an X-ray to determine the severity of the issue. If the X-ray comes back positive, Mullarkey will need to be cleared by a doctor if he hopes to fight in the next six months.

Huge KO for first UFC win

Mullarkey defeated Khama Worthy via KO (punches) at 0:46 of Round 1 at UFC 260 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Well, that's quite a way to earn your first UFC victory. After coming up short via unanimous decision against Brad Riddell and Fares Ziam in his first two fights with the company, Mullarkey cracked Worthy with a counter left hook before following it up with another quick shot to close the show. While we hadn't seen his power thus far in the UFC, Mullarkey has a long history of knocking guys out on the regional circuit. This was a perfect example of the type of power he possesses. This performance likely saved Mullarkey's job, but surprisingly wasn't enough for him to show up on the post-fight bonus list.

Mullarkey will square off against Khama Worthy on the UFC 260 card March 27, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Mullarkey hasn't gotten off to an ideal start to his UFC career, coming up short via unanimous decision in each of his first two bouts. He'll aim to pick up his first win in a fight that figures to feature contrasting styles, with Mullarkey looking to take it to the mat while Worthy wants to keep things in the boxing format as often as possible. Mullarkey stands one inch taller than his opponent but the two sport identical reaches.
Swallows tough pill in loss

Mullarkey lost to Fares Ziam via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
ANALYSIS
This one will likely sting for a while, as Mullarkey looked primed to notch his first UFC win after tallying takedowns and achieving control for the majority of rounds two and three. A reversal from Ziam as Mullarkey attempted to go to mount created a scramble in which Mullarkey nearly had his back taken, which must have been enough for the judges to award him the fight. It seems strange that Mullarkey is 0-2 in the Octagon, as his losses include a likely future title contender in Brad Riddell, and the questionable decision here. While it may not look great now, it does seem as though Mullarkey has the talent to string wins together in the organization going forward. He falls to 12-4 in his professional MMA career as a result of the loss.
