Al-Selwady will take on Guram Kutateladze in a lightweight matchup at UFC Abu Dhabi on August 3, Farah Hannoun of MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Al-Selwady got his UFC opportunity after a win on Contender Series but was knocked out by Loik Radzhabov his official debut last March. He now draws Kutatteladze, a loser of back-to-back fights who fights relatively infrequently and last competed in July of 2023. Al-Selwady will be giving up three inches in both height and reach to his opponent, but will likely try to close the distance by wrestling.

Al-Selwady lost to Loik Radzhabov via KO (punches) at 0:49 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Making his official UFC debut after picking up an upset win on Dana White's Contender Series last August, Al-Selwady appeared to be in pretty good shape to earn a victory before everything changed in an instant. Al-Selwady started slowly, clearly dropping Round 1 before finding his form in Round 2. He had all the momentum entering the final frame with his opponent seemingly exhausted, but one massive Radzhabov right hand dropped him in an instant and led to the stoppage. Al-Selwady will need a rebound performance his next time out.
Draws Radzhabov on March 2

Al-Selwady will face Loik Radzhabov in a lightweight matchup at UFC Saudi Arabia on March 2, Farah Hannoun of MMAJunkie reports.
ANALYSIS
Al-Sewady is a 28-year-old prospect who suffered back-to-back losses under the banner of Brave CF in 2019 but has since bounced back to win five in a row. The first of that streak came under the banner of LFA, and he proceeded to win three in a row with Fury FC before getting a shot on Contender Series. He made the most of that opportunity, getting a UFC contract despite winning via decision over George Hardwick. He now faces Radzhabov, who is 1-1 under the UFC banner after losing to Mateusz Rebecki via second-round TKO last June. On paper, Al-Selwady will concede three inches in height, but both men sport an identical 69-inch reach.
Earns contract via upset win

Al-Selwady defeated George Hardwick via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. After the show, he was one of five fighters to be awarded an official UFC contract.
ANALYSIS
This was expected to be a showcase fight for Hardwick, but Al-Selwady clearly had other plans. The Palestinian fighter is incredibly fast and was able to use his superior footwork to consistently avoid strikes and tag his opponent with counter shots. Al-Selwady knew he was in a fight by the third round but always found a way to be on the winning end of exchanges. This may have been a more favorable matchup for Al-Selwady than initially anticipated, as he is a natural counter fighter, but his speed and agility should play well in the lightweight division regardless.
