Andre Fili

Barely gets by Bill Algeo
September 17, 2022
Fili defeated Bill Algeo via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Fili's fights are typically wild affairs with a lot going on, and this one was no exception. Andre started quickly, winning the vast majority of the striking exchanges from Algeo in the opening frame. Bill pulled even with a strong second round before Fili planted Algeo on his back with a perfectly-timed takedown early in Round 3. Outside of a couple of submission attempts, Fili did little with his positional advantage, and the end result was one of the three judges giving the final frame to Algeo despite the fact Andre had his back for nearly the entire round. Closing in on 20 fights with the UFC, the Team Alpha Male product improves his record to 10-8 (1NC) with the company.

Opponent drops out due to injury

Fili will no longer face Lando Vannata (undisclosed) at the UFC event on Sept. 17 after Vannata withdrew from the fight due to an injury, reports.
It's still unclear if the UFC will attempt to find a replacement opponent for Fili ahead of the Sept. 17 card, but he won't fight Vannata as originally scheduled. If no replacement is found and the bout ends up not being rescheduled, Fili will have to wait for a new booking before he re-enters the Octagon.
Taking on Lando Vannata
June 14, 2022
Fili is set to take on Lando Vannata at a UFC event on Sept. 17, Marcel Dorff of reports.
Fili currently boasts a 21-9-0 record in the Featherweight division of the UFC, but he is coming off a tough Round 1 TKO against Joanderson Brito in April. The 31-year-old will look to bounce back from his loss earlier this year when he takes on Vannata.
Lasts 41 seconds in Vegas
April 30, 2022
Fili lost to Joanderson Brito via TKO (punches) at 0:41 of Round 1 at UFC on ESPN 35 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
What a disaster. Entering as a -250 favorite, one of the biggest on the entire card, Fili ate a sweeping right hook early in the proceedings which essentially ended his evening right there. Fili has been extremely inconsistent over the course of his long UFC run, but he's typically been durable, as this was just the third knockout defeat of his career. Fili is somehow still just 31 years of age, but he entered into "gatekeeper" status a long time ago. The Team Alpha Male product is just 1-3 (1NC) in his last five fights dating back to January 2020, and the one victory in there came via split decision.
