Can't defend takedown in loss
Carolina lost to Michelle Montague via unanimous decision (26-29, 25-30, 26-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Perth, Australia.
ANALYSIS
Carolina gave up five takedowns totaling 10:43 worth of control time and was docked a point for an illegal upkick in Round 2, so she had zero chance of winning a decision. That's the bad news. The good news is that she busted Montague open with a huge shot from the bottom early on and nearly scored a knockdown after connecting with a few huge blows early in Round 3. It ended up being nowhere near enough. Carolina entered having won three in a row, but all came against lower-level competition. Expect the 32-year-old to hover around the .500 mark moving forward.

Easily earns third straight win
Carolina defeated Lucie Pudilova via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It sure seems as if every Carolina fight is exactly the same. She has very little power and lacks ideal athleticism, but Luana is perfectly comfortable standing in the pocket and exchanging. Her output on the feet it always high, and she has a strong chin. These aren't traits that figure to lead to success against better competition, but Carolina has displayed a consistently ability to defeat fringe-roster fighters such as Pudilova. Always active, the 31-year-old Brazilian has won three in a row dating back to July 2023.

Draws Pudilova in July
Carolina will take on Lucie Pudilova at UFC Vegas 94 on July 20, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Carolina has been hit or miss during her UFC run, but currently finds herself on a two-fight winning streak after stopping Jilija Stoliarenko in the third round in February. She now draws Pudilova, who is on a dismal 1-7 stretch after dropping a bantamweight bout to Ailin Perez last November. Carolina has a slightly longer reach, in addition to statistical advantages in striking volume and striking defense.
