Mizuki Inoue

Japan
Wins in first fight in three years
Inoue defeated Hannah Goldy via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
When we last saw Inoue, she was dropping a unanimous decision to recent title challenger Amanda Lemos. That came in August 2020. 37 months later, Mizuki made her return here and looked strong against a lower-level opponent in Goldy. Inoue was consistently able to outmuscle her opponent at the point of attack, leading to plenty of control time along the fence and the unanimous decision win. Inoue is still just 29 years of age despite all the time away, so there's some hope for her yet at 115 pounds.l

Set to return to Octagon
Inoue has agreed to fight Hannah Goldy at UFC Vegas 79 on September 23.
ANALYSIS
Inoue will be returning to fight for the first time in three years. She last stepped foot into the Octagon in August of 2020 and suffered a defeat to Amanda Lemos via unanimous decision. A few months following the bout, Inoue underwent knee surgery and has not fought since. Her last fight was at flyweight, but Inoue will be moving back down to strawweight to face Goldy, who hasn't fought since July of 2022.

Suffers first UFC defeat
Inoue lost to Amanda Lemos via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It was the second straight poor performance by Inoue to begin her UFC run, but unlike the first time out when she nabbed a split decision from Yanan Wu, this time she left with a loss on her record. Inoue has long been held back due to the lack of power in her hands, and Saturday was no different. While she landed plenty of strikes, Inoue is simply unable to truly threaten her opposition on the feet. She doesn't have a single knockout victory in her career despite being a professional for nearly a decade. Inoue is tough as nails, a threat on the mat and has plenty of experience against quality competition, but her long-term ceiling is severely limited due to her striking deficiencies.

Next fight lined up
Inoue is in line to take on Amanda Lemos at a yet-to-be-determined location August 22, Marcelo Barone of Combate reports.
ANALYSIS
Inoue came away with a split decision in her UFC debut in August, emerging victorious despite falling short in the striking battle 93 to 123. That type of volume bodes well for future fantasy scoring, though it remains to be seen if she can keep it up against Lemos, a fighter with a larger stature set to enter with height and reach advantages. Lemos is 1-1 with the company, most recently putting away Miranda Granger with a first-round submission last December.

Second UFC matchup set
Inoue will take on Tecia Torres (forearm) in a strawweight matchup at UFC Columbus on March 28, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Inoue was victorious in her UFC debut as she defeated Yanan Wu via split decision at UFC Shenzhen in August, and her next fight will come against Torres, who will be making her return from a 180-day medical suspension due to a forearm injury. Torres is currently riding a four-fight losing streak, and she could be fighting for her future with the promotion against Inoue. Inoue has shown a lack of power in her hands throughout her career, but her win against Wu came without Inoue having to rely on her ground game. Inoue carries advantages in height and reach.

Earns decision win in UFC debut
Inoue defeated Yanan Wu via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Shenzhen, China.
ANALYSIS
Inoue had to feel pretty confident when this fight was over, but this card featured a ton of strange scorecards and this one was no different. All in all, Inoue's UFC debut was a success. She displayed her trademark toughness against a slightly younger opponent, and most impressively -- showed she can win a fight without the use of her ground game. Inoue doesn't have a knockout win in her nine-year pro career and a distinct lack of power in her hands has always been her downfall. Inoue fought both Alexa Grasso and Karolina Kowalkiewicz in Invicta, so she has faced high-level competition in the past. She makes for an intriguing add to the UFC's 115-pound women's division.
