Cruises in main event win

Imavov defeated Roman Dolidze via majority decision (49-44, 47-47, 48-46) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
This fight was lopsided from start to finish, and it's concerning one of the judges actually scored it a draw. Imavov nearly finished Dolidze in Round 1 to the tune of an easy 10-8 score. He continued to lead the way the entire fight, with his only misstep being getting docked a point by referee Herb Dean for an illegal knee in Round 4. Other than that, it was smooth sailing. Imavov lapped Dolidze on the feet with a massive edge in terms of both speed and technical striking skill. Nassourdine isn't a great grappler, and he's displayed no real ability to grapple against better competition, but he certainly has the stand-up skills to go toe-to-toe with any fighter on the UFC roster at 185 pounds in a kickboxing match. Given the bad blood between he and Chris Curtis (who was cornering Dolidze here), perhaps the UFC looks to re-book the two after their fight last June was ruled a no-contest following an accidental clash of heads.

Imavov withdrew from his scheduled fight against Ikram Aliskerov at UFC 294, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
A visa issue will prevent Imavov from fighting Aliskerov, so Imavov will have to wait a bit longer before trying again to secure his first win since September 2022. Warlley Alves will step in as Imavov's replacement at UFC 294.

Accidental headbutt ends bout

June 10, 2023
Imavov and Chris Curtis fought to a no contest (accidental headbutt) at 3:04 of Round 2 at UFC 289 on Saturday in Vancouver.
ANALYSIS
It was clearly accidental, but that's not going to make Imavov feel any better in a fight in which he was cruising. Nassourdine was using his massive size advantage to pick Curtis apart on the feet. He also landed 3-of-4 takedowns, becoming the first fighter to get Chris to the mat in his UFC career. It was all coming together for Imavov midway through Round 2, at which point he pushed forward for a combination and the two clashed heads, leaving Curtis badly cut and dazed and eventually causing referee Jason Herzog to call it off. It's a bad break for Imavov, who was on his was to rebounding in a major way from his unanimous decision main event loss to Sean Strickland this past January.

Imavov will fight Chris Curtis in a middleweight bout at UFC 289 on June 10 in Vancouver, according to Mike Heck of MMAFighting.com.
ANALYSIS
Imavov will return to his preferred weight after taking a light-heavyweight fight against Sean Strickland on short notice at UFC Vegas 67 and coming up short. Like the Action Man he is scheduled to face, Imavov will waste little time trying to get back on track.
