Rob Font

Puerto Rico
Late opponent change
Font will now face David Martinez in a bantamweight matchup at Noche UFC on Sept. 13 following the withdrawal of Raul Rosas (undisclosed), Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Font was originally scheduled against the up-and-coming Raul Rosas, but the latter was forced to withdraw for undisclosed reasons. The UFC was able to keep Font on the card, however, giving him an opponent in Martinez who has just one UFC fight to date -- a first-round finish of Saimon Oliveira back in March. Font, on the other hand, has fought some of the best bantamweights the division has had to offer for quite some time, and he'll be looking to build on his current two-fight winning streak.

Booked vs. Rosas
Font will take on Raul Rosas in a bantamweight bout at Noche UFC in San Antonio on Sept. 13, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Font has strung together two straight wins in the UFC, most recently besting Jean Matsumoto via split decision in February. That pushed his record to 12-7, and he'll look for a third straight victory versus Rosas, who hasn't lost since 2023 and is a winner of four straight.

Second straight upset win
Font defeated Jean Matsumoto via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Seattle.
ANALYSIS
If you've seen one Font fight, you've seen them all. Rob's takedown defense is amongst the worst in the division, and it was poor once again here. He allowed Matsumoto to land 7-of-10 takedowns. Yet, Font is never going to quit on himself, and he's always going to fire off a ton of volume on the feet. Often times that results in a coin flip fight. It did here, and the Massachusetts native got the call. Font lost four of five from December 2021 to December 2023, and it appeared as if his UFC run had come to an end. The company awarded him another opportunity, and he has since pulled off back-to-back wins over Kyler Phillips and Matsumoto. Font will be 38 years old in late-June, so the company has to be careful regarding who it matches him up against moving forward, but there's gas left in the tank here.

Set to face Matsumoto
Font will fight Jean Matsumoto at UFC Seattle on Feb. 22, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Font was originally slated to fight Dominick Cruz next weekend, but Cruz withdrew from the event after suffering an injury while training and subsequently retired from MMA. Font will now take on Matsumoto, who enters the fight with a perfect 16-0 record as a professional and is 2-0 since joining the UFC last April.

Needs new opponent
Font will no longer fight Dominick Cruz (undisclosed) at UFC Seattle on Feb. 22, per MMAJunkie.com.
ANALYSIS
Cruz suffered an injury during training that will prevent him from participating in the fight, so the UFC will look for a replacement to keep Font on the card. The 37-year-old Font is coming off a win in his lone fight of 2024 against Kyler Phillips but has lost four of his last six bouts.

Draws Cruz in Seattle
Font will take on Dominick Cruz in a bantamweight matchup in the co-main event of UFC Seattle on Feb. 22, Mike Coppinger of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
While Font has consistently fought the best the division has to offer, he did hit a bit of a crossroads at the end of 2023 after losing four of five. He managed to bounce back in October against Kyler Phillips and now looks to start a new winning streak against a big name in Cruz. Font may struggle a bit to defend the takedown, but he's a younger fighter than Cruz, as well as a higher-volume striker.
