Santos lost to Karol Rosa via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's a crushing result for Santos considering she easily won Round 1 and appeared to be in firm control most of Round 2. Yana had an overwhelming strength advantage, easily pinning Rosa to the cage whenever the two women engaged in the clinch, but she struggled mightily at distance and it only got worse as the fight progressed. There's zero question Rosa landed the more damaging blows and that appears to be what judges value these days. Set to turn 34 years of age this coming November and the loser of three fights in a row, the odds are against Santos earning another shot with the company.

Santos will fight Macy Chiasson in a bantamweight bout at UFC Vegas 76 on July 1, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Unlike her previous fight, Santos will compete with a short layoff, just under four months. After a pregnancy-related absence that lasted almost two years, she lost in her return fight to Holly Holm at UFC on ESPN 43. Chiasson is also coming off a relatively prolonged layoff, last fighting more than nine months ago against Irene Aldana.

Santos lost to Holly Holm via unanimous decision (26-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC on ESPN 43 on Saturday in San Antonio.
ANALYSIS
Fighting for the first time since July 2021 following the birth of her child, Santos was competitive for a round before the roof caved in. She spent nearly the entire opening frame engaging Holm in a clinch battle in hopes of limiting her opponent's space. It worked. The good times ended there. Santos spent nearly the entirety of the final two rounds on the mat, eating a bunch of strikes while generating zero offense of her own. Santos drops to 4-4 in her first eight UFC bouts.
