Fantrax Finds & Sleeper Adds: Waiver Wire Pickups for Gameweek 2

Rico Lewis started the opener and seems set to stay at Manchester City, making him a hot waiver option at Fantrax and Sleeper heading into Gameweek 2.
Fantrax Finds & Sleeper Adds: Waiver Wire Pickups for Gameweek 2

Ahead of each Premier League gameweek, I'll take a look at sub-50 percent rostered players on Fantrax and Sleeper whose situations may have changed or improved, and assess whether or not they are worth a pickup in season-long leagues.

Fantrax & Sleeper Rankings

Hopefully, you were able to grab the likes of Richarlison, who skyrocketed to 42-percent rostered or Matt O'Riley, who's still under 50 percent, following last week's article as both were among the top scorers during opening weekend. Others mentioned like Eliezer Mayenda scored, and Djed Spence reached double figures with help of a clean sheet. If you missed out, Gameweek 2 is one of the best times to hone your lineup.

GOALKEEPER

Robin Roefs (4% Fantrax, 8% Sleeper)

Sunderland were the surprise of Gameweek 1 after demolishing West Ham at home. Roefs scored 19.75 points behind his four-save clean sheet as the Black Cats had a dream start to their return to the top flight. While Roefs and company will be difficult to trust week to week, Gameweek 2 presents a chance to target some Sunderland players for streaming purposes as they take on fellow promoted side Burnley.

Another option is Bart Verbruggen at Everton.

DEFENDERS

Rico Lewis (26% Fantrax, 23% Sleeper)

It's hard to know for sure if Lewis will continue to start at right-back ahead of Matheus Nunes, but he started the opener and scored 17.75 points, which included an assist before subbing off the pitch in the 66th minute. If Lewis can lock down the starting role he's severely under rostered as a full-back playing for one of the top sides in the league. He was in rumors to move elsewhere this summer, but for now, he's starting for Manchester City.

Josh Acheampong (6% Fantrax, 3% Sleeper)

Given the multiple center-back injuries at Chelsea, Acheampong was given the nod on the opening weekend and returned 17.75 points. He was the highest scoring Chelsea defender during the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace. While the clean sheet helped, Acheampong was a rock in the back with his five clearances helping Chelsea preserve the shutout. There's no guarantee he'll be back in the XI next week, likely pending the status of Tosin Adarabioyo, but Chelsea get a solid matchup away to West Ham in Gameweek 2.

MIDFIELDERS

David Brooks (4% Fantrax, 9% Sleeper)

Brooks was rated highly on a per-90 basis in our RotoWire season-long rankings, but he had the misfortune of opening the season at Liverpool which likely suppressed his roster share heading into the opening weekend. Despite the tough matchup, Brooks shined, scoring the fifth-most points of any midfielder while providing an assist and creating two chances. Brooks has an active role on set pieces for Bournemouth and gets a much easier matchup at home against Wolves in Gameweek 2. Of course, his starting status is connected to the health of Justin Kluivert.

Oscar Bobb (44% Fantrax, 41% Sleeper)

Bobb's surprise inclusion in the starting XI made him a strong streamer in Gameweek 1, as he not only started, but he played the full 90 minutes while scoring 13.5 points and providing an assist. Like Lewis above, there's no guarantee Bobb will continue to start given the bevy of options available at City, but he's worthy of a speculative add as the Citizens take on Spurs at home Saturday.

FORWARDS

Lyle Foster (7% Fantrax, 15% Sleeper)

It's still pretty bleak on the forward waiver wire, which leads me to Foster who scored a solid eight points without a goal involvement during the 3-0 loss to Spurs on Saturday. While I talked about Sunderland's strong matchup earlier, the same can be said for Burnley who are the home side in that game. Foster had eight goal involvements last time Burnley were in the Premier League, so he's capable of getting on the scoresheet. Still, he's likely a one-week stream as Manchester United and Liverpool follow the next two weeks.

Eliezer Mayenda (34% Fantrax, 30% Sleeper)

Mayenda actually dropped 14-percent rostership after last week's article (like after the Marc Guiu signing), but he started the season well by scoring a goal and taking two shots during his 12.5-point performance in the 3-0 win over West Ham. This is a good week to go back to him against Burnley as he needs to be rostered more widely given his role as a starting striker. Due to the thinness of forward on the waiver wire, Mayenda is one of, if not the only, readily available starting No. 9 on most waivers.
