Setting the Table: Gameweek 34 Cheat Sheet

Setting the Table: Gameweek 34 Cheat Sheet

This article is part of our Setting the Table series.

Looking Back

Leicester City had the surprise of the weekend, ending their four-match 1-0 victory streak by putting two past Vito Mannone en route to a 2-0 win, their fifth consecutive clean sheet. Jamie Vardy scored twice to reach 21 for the season, putting him one behind Spurs' Harry Kane, who did not score in their 3-0 victory over Manchester United. Leicester qualified for the Champions League with the win, and they head into Gameweek 34 with a seven-point lead on Tottenham.

Championship-bound Aston Villa lost again, leaving them 15 points clear of the relegation zone. In a related note, they have 16 points all season, a number that hasn't budged since they beat Norwich City 2-0 on Feb. 6.

Newcastle remained winless under new manager Rafa Benitez, as they lost 3-1 to Southampton, their second consecutive match allowing three goals. They sit six points behind Norwich for 17th, though they do have a game in hand. The bad news: it's against Manchester City.

Note: I've adjusted the form table to show just the last six Premier League matches, as the double gameweeks were starting to mess up the table and not give a clear indication how each team is doing in the league. While some are still competing in other competitions like the Champions League (Manchester City), Europa League (Liverpool) and FA Cup (Manchester United, Watford, Crystal Palace, Everton), there's enough squad rotation that we shouldn't read too much into those fixtures when it comes to league play. If you feel passionately that they should be included, I'm open to suggestions.

Looking Ahead

There are 15 Premier League matches in the next eight days, as five teams have double gameweeks thanks to FA Cup rescheduling. Arsenal and Manchester United are heavy favorites in both of their matches, making their players popular picks in season-long formats and DFS games.

Here's a look at how the oddsmakers think it'll all play out, with each column sortable if you're looking to find the best or worst teams to focus on:
