Parts ways with D.C. United
Herrera has been waived by D.C. United despite being under contract through the 2026 MLS season, the club announced.
ANALYSIS
Herrera joined D.C. United in December 2023 from CF Montréal and made 69 appearances across three seasons, contributing one goal and eight assists in all competitions. The Guatemalan made an immediate impact in his first season, earning a place in the 2024 MLS All-Star team, and went on to record 20 or more starts in each of his first two seasons. This season however proved more difficult, with Herrera spending most of it sidelined through injury and featuring only as a substitute in his last three appearances. He departs having also accumulated 27 caps for the Guatemalan national team.
