Steffen was a major addition to the revamped Colorado Rapids in 2024. After the loss of top defender Moise Bombito to OGC Nice, the Colorado backline struggled and consistently left Steffen out to dry. With Colorado in the market for a new center-back beside Andreas Maxso, Steffen can return to a similar form that he had with Bombito on the backline.
