Victoria Azarenka

32-Year-Old
Reaches first final of season
October 15, 2021
Azarenka won 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 over Jelena Ostapenko in the semifinals of Indian Wells on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Despite a fairly rough performance in which she had 15 winners compared to 27 unforced errors, Azarenka was able to defend well enough to reach her first final of 2021. The No. 27 seed from Belarus doesn't usually take on the role of defense, but she had 30 less winners than her opponent and still came out with the win after two hours and 21 minutes. Azarenka will take on either No. 12 seed Ons Jabeur (1-0 H2H) or No. 21 seed Paula Badosa in the final. Azarenka is looking for her first title since she won the Western & Southern Open in 2020.
