Snatches neck as sizeable underdog
FlyweightUFC
August 16, 2025
Elliott defeated Kai Asakura via submission (guillotine choke) at 4:39 of Round 2 at UFC 319 on Saturday in Chicago, Illinois.
ANALYSIS
It looked like Elliott was searching for his offense early, but he was able to catch a kick and bring Asakura to the ground at the end of Round 1. The fight took on a different look thereafter, with the Japanese fighter looking timid, and the former title challenger advancing while landing shots. This culminated in a takedown that allowed Elliott to find his opponent's neck in a scramble. At 38 years old, it's difficult to imagine that Elliott can make a run at the top of this division, but he will be a tough out whenever he is in the cage. Elliott improves to 21-13-1 in professional MMA as a result of the victory.

Finally scheduled to fight
FlyweightUFC
May 26, 2025
Elliott (undisclosed) is scheduled to compete against fellow flyweight Kai Asakura at UFC 319 in Chicago on Aug. 16, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
It has been over a year since Elliott was scheduled for a fight. Back in April 2024, the UFC slated him against another Japanese flyweight in Tatsuro Taira. Instead, Elliott will fight Asakura, whose latest fight and UFC debut include a second-round loss to Alexandre Pantoja.
Off May 18 event

April 25, 2024
Elliott will no longer face Tatsuro Taira at UFC Vegas 92 on May 18, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
No injury was reported here, so this appears to be a simple case of matchup reshuffling until told otherwise. Taira has instead taken a more attractive matchup against Joshua Van at UFC 302 on June 1, while the UFC has yet to announce any immediate re-booking for Elliott.
Set to face Taira
FlyweightUFC
March 10, 2024
Elliott will face Tatsuro Taira in a flyweight bout at UFC Vegas 92 on May 18, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Elliott is a former UFC title challenge and the winner of TUF 24, and he returns to the octagon after his latest fight ended in a win over Su Mudaerji via technical submission at UFC Fight Night on Dec. 9. Elliott has gone 2-1 over his last three fights, but at 37 years of age, he might have a tough time dealing with a quick opponent in Taira.
Wins on four days' notice

December 9, 2023
Elliott defeated Su Mudaerji via technical submission (arm-triangle choke) at 4:02 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
We last saw Elliott in late-October getting submitted by rising star Muhammad Mokaev late in Round 3. He accepted this fight literally four days ago following the withdrawal of Allan Nascimento and picked up a nice paycheck and win bonus before the holidays. He'll also take home a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus for his efforts. It came easily, quite frankly. Sure, Elliott absorbed a few big shots on the feet, but he eventually landed an easy single-leg takedown before schooling Su on the mat and putting him to sleep. Tim will be 37 years of age on Christmas Eve and simply doesn't have the all-around game to compete with the best flyweights in the world, but his grappling game remains on point, and he's going to blow through opponents with a hole in that area.

December 5, 2023
Elliott will compete against Su Mudaerji in a bantamweight fight at UFC Vegas 83 on Dec. 9, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Mudaerji was supposed to fight fellow flyweight Allan Nascimento, but he withdrew from the event. Elliott seems to have offered his services despite having a short time to prepare. At the very least, he has a second chance to end his 2023 on an excellent note.
