FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Brandon Finnegan, CIN at STL ($6,300): Finnegan has 45 and 42 fantasy points in his last two starts with the latter total coming against this same Cards squad last Thursday. He also had 36 fantasy points against them June 9 on the strength of a seven-inning, five-hit effort. Meanwhile the Cardinals have the sixth-lowest wOBA in the majors against southpaws (.307) while also striking out 20.5 percent of the time against that handedness.

Catcher

Wilson Ramos, WAS vs. CLE ($3,000): Jett Bandy ($2,200) is a viable value play despite the matchup against John Lackey, while Jeff Mathis ($2,000) deserves a look as a min-priced special if he gets the start for the Marlins against Matt Moore. However Ramos is the first option, coming into Tuesday scoring double-digit fantasy points in five straight games. He's smacked three homers over that span and has a .397 wOBA against righties, a .414 wOBA at home and a .632 wOBA to date in August. Meanwhile, Indians starter Trevor Bauer was blasted in his last start against the Twins to the tune of seven earned runs over 2.2 innings and also posted a 5.19 ERA and .335 wOBA over five July starts.

First Base

Freddie Freeman, ATL at MIL ($3,600): Wily Peralta is back in the majors, meaning that it's prudent to slip at least a couple of Braves in your lineup Tuesday. We start with Freeman, who has a .354 wOBA, .236 ISO and a 37.3 percent hard contact rate against righties and a .378 wOBA overall on the road. Peralta has given up a .401 wOBA to lefties with a .444 wOBA and massive 46.2 percent hard contact rate when facing them at Miller Park this season.

Second Base

Devon Travis, TOR vs. TAM ($2,800): Travis has multi-hit efforts in four of the last five games with double-digit fantasy points as well as three homers in all of those contests. Rays starter Drew Smyly has given up a .394 wOBA and 11 homers to right-handed bats on the road this season, along with a 37.7 percent hard contact rate. While Travis has struggled against lefties this season, particularly at home, he certainly could be primed for a breakthrough considering his .506 wOBA and .361 ISO over the first eight games of August and the matchup against Smyly.

Third Base

Martin Prado, MIA vs. SFG ($2,700): Moore has given up 17 of his 20 homers on the season to righty bats and a .338 wOBA to them on the road. Prado's price is a head-scratcher, particularly considering the fact that he's tallied 25.4 and 37.6 fantasy points over the last two games while going 5-for-7 with two doubles, a homer, four RBI and five runs. He also boasts an absurd .469 wOBA against southpaws that rises to an even more jaw-dropping .503 when facing them at Marlins Park.

Shortstop

Brandon Crawford, SFG at MIA ($2,700): Crawford comes off a game for the ages Monday in which he went 7-for-8 and represents a solid value again Tuesday. Marlins starter Tom Koehler has given up a .345 wOBA and 35.2 percent hard contact rate to lefty bats at home this season while Crawford has a .362 wOBA and 36.9 percent hard contact rate against righties on the road, hitting seven of his 10 homers on the season against that handedness.

Outfield

Matt Kemp, ATL at MIL ($3,500): Kemp is our second Braves slugger to roster against Peralta, who's surrendered a .438 wOBA to right-handed bats that rises to .450 (along with a 22.2 percent HR/FB rate) when facing them at Miller Park. Kemp brings a .500/.500/.786 line against Peralta over 14 career at-bats with a double, a homer and five RBI. He also sports a .342 wOBA and .247 ISO against righties on the road this season and three straight games with double-digit fantasy points.

Hernan Perez, MIL vs. ATL ($3,000): Perez brings double-digit fantasy point upside in any given game and has accomplished the feat in six of his last eight games. He has a .331 wOBA over the first six games of August and a 34 percent hard contact rate against right-handed pitching at Miller Park this season. Braves starter Tyrell Jenkins has yielded a .365 wOBA to righty bats and a .492 figure to the 42 right-handed batters he's faced on the road this season.

Melvin Upton Jr., TOR vs. TAM ($2,400): Upton is another cost-effective target to throw out against Smyly, whose struggles against right-handed hitters were detailed in Travis' entry. Upton boasts a .368 wOBA and .281 ISO against southpaws and brings solid upside at his price despite recent struggles.
