2024 Fantasy Outlook
Hensley saw 94 plate appearances across 30 games for Houston in 2023 and frankly struggled as he slashed .119/.213/.167 before being sent back to Triple-A for good in August. Things didn't go much better for the 27-year-old in the minors posting a .220/.365/.356 line in 293 plate appearances with Sugar Land. After impressing in a short stint in 2022, it was a backwards step for Hensley who is likely now on the outside looking in at a roster spot in 2024. It's possible Hensley could make the team out of spring, but if he does he'll likely be limited to being a bench bat in a utility role as he's capable of playing multiple infield roles as well as corner outfield. 2023 Fantasy Outlook
Hensley made his major-league debut in late August and played in only 16 games during the final six weeks of the regular season, but he took advantage of the playing time with a 1.027 OPS in 34 plate appearances. He spent most of the campaign at the Triple-A level and had a .298/.420/.478 slash line, and he should open 2023 with the big-league club. The Astros bolstered their infield with the signing of Jose Abreu, and there's not much room in the lineup for Hensley. He should operate as a bench bat but could receive more opportunities if/when injuries hit the team.
