Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

As of early Tuesday morning, the NBA has already postponed one of the seven scheduled games for the day. We could see more postponements, so be sure to keep your eye out for news as the day moves along. As things currently stand, here are some players to consider for your Yahoo entry, as well as a few to potentially avoid.

GUARDS

Malcolm Brogdon, IND at GS ($37): Brogdon comes into this game rolling after having scored at least 40.7 Yahoo points in five straight games. One of the keys to his success this season has been an increase in playing time. He averaged 31 minutes a game last season and he's averaged 38 minutes through 10 games this season. With the possibility that Victor Oladipo sits out this game for rest, the Pacers could ask for even more production from Brogdon.

Tyler Herro, MIA at PHI ($22): The status of this game is very much up in the air because of how many players the Heat have in the health and safety protocols. It appears that they will have the minimum eight players available, but this could change, so keep an eye out for updates. If they do play, Herro is almost a must-start at this salary given that Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo and Goran Dragic will be among the players who aren't available.

Guard to Avoid

Joe Harris, BKN vs. DEN ($18): Kyrie Irving remains away from the Nets for personal reasons, but at least they have Kevin Durant back. As long as he and Caris LeVert are on the floor, Harris is going to have limited upside. He did explode for 43.2 Yahoo points against the Sixers in a game that both Irving and Durant missed, but he's generally struggled, scoring 24.4 Yahoo points or fewer in four of his last five games.

FORWARDS

Kevin Durant, BKN vs. DEN ($45): Irving did not play in Durant's return against the Thunder on Sunday, which contributed to Durant scoring 36 points on his way to 54.2 Yahoo points. He's scored at least 42.3 Yahoo points in all but one game that he's played in this season and is going to be able to shoot at will in this contest without Irving, so expect him to have an extremely high floor.

Kelly Olynyk, MIA at PHI ($16): While Olynyk (groin) is on the injury report heading into this game, he is listed as probable, so it looks like he'll be able to take the floor. He's coming off of arguably his best game of the season, recording 18 points, six rebounds, five assists, a steal and a block against the Wizards on Saturday. Since the Heat will have very little depth up front, Olynyk should see added minutes and scoring opportunities in this game.

Forward to Avoid

Kelly Oubre Jr., GS vs. IND ($18): Oubre just can't seem to shake his shooting funk. He's shooting an ugly 33.6 percent from the field, including a staggering 13.7 percent from behind the arc. The result has been him averaging only 10.2 points a game. His shooting woes might be partially to blame for him averaging only 27 minutes a night. Until he shows signs of coming out of his funk, he's too risky.

CENTERS

Nikola Jokic, DEN at BKN ($51): What's not to like about Jokic's start to the season? He's averaging a triple-double, is shooting 58.7 percent from the field and is averaging 35 minutes a night, which would be the highest mark of his career. The Nuggets will remain shorthanded for this game with Michael Porter Jr. (COVID-19) out, so the sky is the limit for Jokic.

Dwight Howard, PHI vs. MIA ($10): If the Sixers had enough healthy players, Joel Embiid might sit this game out being it's the second leg of a back-to-back set. If he does play, he could be limited. Howard has proved to be an important member of the Sixers' bench, scoring at least 23.1 Yahoo points in four of their last five games. At the minimum salary, he could be worth a look in tournament play.

Center to Avoid

James Wiseman, GS vs. IND ($19): As promising as Wiseman has looked, he hasn't exactly been great from a fantasy perspective. He scored at least 31.2 Yahoo points in both of the first two games of the season, but has scored 21.3 Yahoo points of fewer in seven of eight games since. It's also a concern that he's logged fewer than 20 minutes in four straight contests.
