Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

We're back to an abbreviated Tuesday slate, but there are still some big (and pricey) names to be had, including Russell Westbrook, Damian Lillard and John Wall. As usual, let's break down where it's worth shelling out the bucks and where value can be found:

GUARDS

John Wall, WAS at PHO ($51): While Russell Westbrook ($64) sits atop the player pool, he costs a pretty penny and will be playing his fourth game in six nights. Meanwhile, Wall can be had at a relative discount and faces off against a Suns defense that surrenders the sixth-most fantasy points (46.31) to point guards, along with the most points (26.1), most three-pointers (2.8) and fourth-highest field-goal percentage (45.1) to the position. Wall has been outstanding all season and has eclipsed 50 fantasy points in five of the last 13 games (and 40 fantasy points in six others during that stretch), while boasting a 30.3 percent usage rate.

Tyler Ullis, PHO vs. WAS ($10): There are multiple viable options at guard from the mid-tier down despite the short slate, including Seth Curry ($23), Yogi Ferrell ($16), Jordan Clarkson ($14) and the red-hot Bojan Bogdanovic ($13). However, Ullis makes for a great alternative for those needing to save even further, as he's scored between 22.0 and 32.4 fantasy points over his last four games. He was encouragingly up over 33 minutes in Sunday's victory over the Celtics and should be in line for another solid allotment of playing time given his recent performances.

Guard to Avoid

Devin Booker, PHO vs. WAS ($28): Booker has scored between 15.1 and 26.9 fantasy points in four of his last five games, mediocre-to-decent returns that don't quite justify his price. He'll also be up against plenty of Bradley Beal defense Tuesday, which has helped the Wizards rank in the top half of the league in fantasy points (37.56) and points (20.7) allowed to two guards. With a number of cheaper options in better matchups, including Mavs teammates Seth Curry ($23) and Yogi Ferrell ($16), Booker is an avoid candidate.

FORWARDS

Markieff Morris, WAS at PHO ($29): Morris gets a crack at his former Suns teammates, who are surrendering the sixth-most fantasy points (45.86), third-most points (21.4) and seventh-highest field-goal percentage (47.8) to power forwards this season. He had had his shares of ups and downs but carries an impressive ceiling, which he most recently flashed by scoring between 30.6 and 42.7 fantasy points in three of his last four games.

Al-Farouq Aminu, POR at OKC ($16):Harrison Barnes ($26) and T.J. Warren ($19) are also nice options for those with the cash to move up for them, while Brandon Ingram ($11) makes for a low-risk, albeit unpredictable, near min-priced play. Aminu fits in nicely in the middle and brings some excellent upside at his price, scoring between 26.1 and 36.0 fantasy points in six of his last seven games. He's offered solid production across the stat sheet and sports an impressive 19.7 percent usage rate over that span as well.

Forward to Avoid

Domantas Sabonis, OKC vs. POR ($10): Sabonis may be minimum priced but simply carries next to no upside. He's scored single-digit fantasy points in three of his last five games and 11.9 in another over that stretch. His playing time is far from secure now that Taj Gibson is in town, as he's seen as few as eight minutes and no more than 20 in any of the five games since Gibson has been active. If you must go very cheap at forward, Brandon Ingram ($11) or Doug McDermott ($10) make for higher upside plays.

CENTERS

Enes Kanter, OKC vs. POR ($19):Dirk Nowitzki ($20) also draws a solid matchup near the top of the center pricing scale Tuesday, but Kanter will be in a good situation in his own right. The Blazers didn't really improve on defense in trading out Mason Plumlee for Jusuf Nurkic, and are still surrendering the ninth-most fantasy points (49.33) to centers on the season, having already surrendered several strong performances with the latter patrolling the paint. Kanter has scored at least 29.3 fantasy points in four of the past five games, while tallying double-digit points in each game. In what should be a fast-paced matchup, he makes for a strong value play.

Alan Williams, PHO vs. WAS ($13):Nerlens Noel ($16) is in a terrific matchup Tuesday as well but his minutes and role have been hard to pin down, so he carries some risk. However, Williams, who is $3 cheaper, seems to have secure minutes, as he's played no fewer than 22 in the last five games. He's scored between 33.4 and 45.5 fantasy points in four of those games, with double-doubles in each. Meanwhile, the Wizards have surrendered 46.77 fantasy points per game to centers, along with the seventh-highest field-goal percentage (55.3) to the position.

Center to Avoid

Tyson Chandler, PHO vs. WAS ($15): Williams' stellar play of late has knocked Chandler out of the rotation altogether, as he has yet to see the floor following the All-Star break. With no guarantee anything will change Tuesday, he's naturally a stay-away candidate.
