Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary
Lamar Brandon Stevens was born on July 9, 1997 in Philadelphia. Stevens attended The Haverford School in Haverford Township, Pennsylvania for his first two years of high school basketball. Stevens was named to the All-State and All-District teams as both a sophomore and a junior, while also leading Haverford to two consecutive state titles. For his senior season, Stevens attended Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia, joining future Penn State teammates Tony Carr and Nazeer Bostick. Stevens helped lead Roman Catholic to the No. 1 ranking in the state, as well as a top-15 national ranking. Stevens once again made the All-State and All-District teams, while scoring 20 points in the state championship game during his senior season. A four-star recruit, Stevens committed to play college basketball at Penn State. Stevens was an immediate impact player at Penn State, starting all 33 games as a freshman. He was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman First Team, while averaging nearly 13 points per game. As a sophomore, Stevens averaged 15.5 points and 5.9 boards per game, helping lead Penn State to an NIT championship. He was named the MOP of the NIT Tournament. As a junior, Stevens averaged a career-high 19.9 points per game, while playing nearly 37 minutes per contest. Stevens was a First Team All-Big Ten selection and initially entered the NBA Draft, only to withdraw his name and return for his senior season. Stevens once again made the All-Big Ten First Team as a senior, and he became the third player in Nittany Lions history to surpass 2,000 career points. Stevens had a career-high 33 points in a win over Minnesota on February 8. Stevens is the author of "Lamar's Climb -- A Journey to Happy Valley" -- a children's book that teaches geography and caters to kids with special needs.

Stevens did not see the court during Boston's 113-103 home win on Sunday.
ANALYSIS Despite appearing in 62 games for Cleveland last season, Stevens has played in only five out of 17 possible games for the Celtics. He is averaging only four minutes per contest after he posted 18 minutes per game last season. Stevens is clearly lower on the depth chart than fellow reserve wings Sam Hauser, Oshae Brissett, Dalano Banton and Svi Mykhailiuk.

Dan Bruno breaks down Wednesday’s slate of games and likes De’Aaron Fox against a Lakers team that gives up the sixth most points per game in the league.
ANALYSIS The Celtics, Timberwolves, Heat and Rockets are mentioned as clubs that are keeping an eye on the 26-year-old forward. Stevens spent the first three seasons of his career in Cleveland before being shipped to the Spurs as part of the Max Strus-Cedi Osman trade this summer and subsequently waived in July.
Stevens claimed a sizable bench role for the Cavs during the 2021-22 campaign and saw even more significant minutes down the stretch, averaging 22.1 minutes per contest over his final 14 games. While Stevens racked up 10.3 points and 3.8 boards during that span, he finished the season tallying just 6.1 points and 2.6 boards over 16.1 minutes per contest overall. Stevens could attain a minimal bump in playing time following the team's trade of a slew of players -- Lauri Markkanen included -- to acquire Donovan Mitchell. Even if that's the case, he's still likely to end the season closer to his full-season 16 minutes per contest than the 22 minutes per game he saw near the end. Stevens doesn't possess excellent fantasy value in either scenario, ranking 391st in per-game fantasy production and 337th in per-36 fantasy production last season, so he will presumably remain on the waiver wire in most fantasy formats.
