Which CFB Teams Have Been Hampered Most By Injuries?

When it comes to injuries, few FBS programs have been hit harder than the American Conference cellar-dwellers from the Queen City.

The Charlotte 49ers have 17 players on the injury report for a whopping 133 points by our scoring system. Unsurprisingly, the glut of injuries inflicted upon Niners players has had a direct impact on the team's play, with Charlotte at 1-7 overall (0-5 American).

The No. 2 team on our list is the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, who are 4-4 overall and 1-4 in Big Ten play, despite having 22 players on the team's injury report (132 points, one behind Charlotte). This inability to stay healthy has affected these teams for their college football odds in 2025.

Charlotte and Rutgers rank ahead of other football luminaries UTEP (118 points/15 injured players) and New Mexico State (112 points/12 injured players). Nebraska ranks fifth with 102 points, stemming from Matt Rhule's team having 15 players that are injured right now

Temple and Wyoming (88 points each), Utah State (82), UCLA, Eastern Michigan and Virginia (all at 80) round out the top 10 of the nation's walking wounded list entering Week 10.

How Have CFB's Walking Wounded Fared?

Most of the 10 most injured teams have not taken the country by storm this season for their fans or backers at the best online betting sites.

But the Virginia Cavaliers are an exception.

UVA (7-1 overall, 5-0 ACC) is the standard-bearer among this group in 2025, ranking 15th in the latest Associated Press top 25 poll.

The Cornhuskers are the only other squad that's close, starting 6-2. Nebraska was ranked No. 25 for one week but fell out.

Temple (5-3) is a team that might surprise some by having a winning record so far. Rutgers, Wyoming and Utah State are all at .500 entering November, while UCLA is 3-5, New Mexico State is 3-4 and UTEP (2-6) and Eastern Michigan (2-7) are among the bottom end of the most injured teams list.

Of the teams that have suffered the most injuries, the Cavaliers of UVA have the best CFP betting odds on DraftKings Sportsbook, at +40000 to win the national title, That speaks to the long odds that await any FBS team that's suffered enough injuries to make this list.
