Heat vs. Scorchers: Match 48 preview

The Brisbane Heat and Perth Scorchers are ready to face off in the match 48 of the Big Bash League (BBL) in Brisbane on Friday.

The game is a bottom-of-the-table clash as both teams are out of the competition already and area just purely playing for pride.

Therefore, any result will have no significance on the team's chances of making it to the next round.

In their previous game, Heat suffered a demoralising nine-wicket defeat against Hobart Hurricanes in Hobart.

In the batting department, the onus will be once again on captain Chris Lynn and Brendon McCullum to score bulk of the runs, whereas in the bowling department, the onus will be on the likes of Josh Lalor, Brendan Doggett and Mujeeb Ur Rahman to provide timely breakthroughs.

On the other hand, Scorchers will be coming in the match low on confidence after they too suffered a demoralising 78-run defeat against Melbourne Renegades in their previous game in Perth.

In the batting department, the team will be relying on in-form Cameron Bancroft, Ashton Turner and Shaun Marsh to score bulk of the runs, whereas in the bowling department, the onus will be on the likes of Andrew Tye, Jason Beherendorff and Nathan Coulter-Nile to provide timely breakthroughs.

In the previous meeting between both teams earlier in the competition, it was the Heat who came out on top with five-wicket margin.

In the previous meeting between both teams earlier in the competition, it was the Heat who came out on top with five-wicket margin.

Key players:

Andrew Tye – 9.5 Cr
First in the list of key players features Perth Scorchers' Andre Tye. The tall right-armer is having a good tournament with the ball in hand where he has already claimed 14 wickets in 11 outings and is the franchise's leading wicket-taker. In the previous five matches, Tye has 10 wickets to his name which shows he is in great form and is the player to have in your team. The 32-year-old, who is valued at 9.5 Cr, has played 120 T20s in his career, where he has claimed 173 wickets at an outstanding strike-rate of 15.2.

Jason Beherendorff – 8.5 Cr
Second in the list of key players features Perth Scorchers' Jason Beherendorff. The 28-year-old is rated highly in the country's cricketing circle, but is having a below-par tournament as he only managed to claim nine wickets in eight outings. Since the Friday's match will be played in Brisbane, which is one of the quickest pitch in the country, Beherendorf, who is valued at 8.5 Cr, might prove to be a great pick for your team because he has the pace and can use his height to good effect as well. The New South Wales-born pacer has played 51 T20s in his career, where he has claimed 67 wickets at a strike-rate of 16.2.

Chris Lynn – 11 Cr
Last in the list of key players features Brisbane Heat's Chris Lynn. The right-handed batsman is having a good tournament with the bat as he is franchise's leading run-scorer with 329 runs at an average of 32.90 in 11 matches. But of late, Lynn's form has seen a massive dip as he managed scores 4,2,0 and 10 in last four innings. Knowing Lynn's past record in the shortest format of the game, it won't be a surprise to see him return to form, especially while playing at home, and therefore, having him in the team can prove to be a worth-taking gamble for the match on Friday.
