Twelfth Match Preview: Nelson Mandela Bay Giants vs. Cape Town Blitz

Nelson Mandela Bay Giants are ready to face Cape Town Blitz in the 12th match of the Mzansi Super League in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday. The match will be a top-of-the-table clash as both teams look certain in cementing their spot in the next round. This will be the second time the teams will face each other in the tournament, as in the previous outing, it was the Blitz who came out on top, courtesy a brilliant half-century from Janneman Malan.

In the Wednesday's match, the home side will be depending on the likes of in-form opening batsman Marco Marais and experienced Ben Duckett to score bulk of the runs, whereas in the bowling department, the onus will be on the likes of Chris Morris and Imran Tahir to do bulk of the damage. In their last match, the Giants registered a seven-run win against Tshwane Spartans on Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method.

On the other hand, Blitz will be coming into the match on the back of their first defeat in the tournament against Paarl Rocks. In the batting department, the visitors will be relying on the likes of wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock and captain Farhan Behardien to score bulk of the runs, whereas in the bowling department, the onus will be on pacers Dale Steyn and Andile Phehlukwayo to provide major breakthroughs.

Key Players:

Janneman Malan – 8.5 Cr

First in the list of key players features Cape Town Blitz's opening batsman Janneman Malan. The right-hander has been in outstanding form with the bat and is currently the leading run-scorer in the tournament with 202 runs at an outstanding average of 40.40 and strike-rate 133.77, which included two half-centuries as well. Valued at 8.5 Cr, Malan has proved himself as a talent to watch out for and is the player to have in your team. Till now, Malan has played 20 T20 matches, scoring 638 runs at an average of 33.57 with one century and three fifties.

Anrich Nortje – 8 Cr

Second in the list of key players features Cape Town Blitz's pacer Anrich Nortje. The 25-year-old is having an outstanding time in the tournament and has already bagged eight wickets. Valued at 8 Cr, Nortje is the player you can put your money on as he is currently the second-leading wicket-taker in the tournament after Jeevan Mendis. Till now, Nortje has played 12 matches in the 20-over format, where he has 19 wickets to his name.

Chris Morris – 9.5 Cr

Last in the list features Nelson Mandela Bay Giants' all-rounder Chris Morris. The 31-year-old is not having a great tournament overall as he only managed to claim four wickets with the ball, whereas with the bat, has just scored 13 runs. But even then, valued at 9.5 Cr, Morris is the player to have in your team as he has enough experience of playing in T20 leagues all over the world and can produce a match-winning performance for his team on any given day. Till now, Morris has played 153 T20s, where he has claimed 188 wickets and scored 1,260 runs.
