2020 Fantasy Outlook
A breakout 2018 campaign in which Okwara logged 7.5 sacks was followed up by a disappointing total of 1.5 in 2019. Having also never reached 40 tackles in a year through four seasons, Okwara is a hard sell as an IDP prospect despite his starting role, especially after the Lions drafted no other than Okwara's brother -- 2020 third-rounder Julian Okwara out of Notre Dame -- to compete for playing time. Double-digit sacks in 2020
Okwara recorded 44 tackles, 10 sacks, one pass breakup and three forced fumbles in 2020.
ANALYSIS
After logging a lowly 1.5 sacks in 2019, Okwara provided plenty of reason to believe his breakout 2018 campaign (7.5 sacks) was no fluke. The Notre Dame product was one of 10 players to notch double-digit sacks in 2020 and he accomplished the feat with very little help around him as the Lions finished near last in the league in most defensive categories, including yards allowed (32nd) and points allowed (32nd). Now an unrestricted free agent, the 25-year-old pass-rusher seems poised for a nice payday this offseason.

Chris Godwin, Aaron Jones, Dak Prescott and numerous other fantasy standouts are lined up for unrestricted free agency, setting the stage for many high-stakes negotiations.

After functioning mostly as an run-anchor defender in his first six NFL seasons, Stephon Tuitt has broken out to make a pass-rushing impact more like standout teammate Cameron Heyward in 2020.

The 2020 rookie class features numerous potential IDP standouts, but Chase Young boasts unmatched potential in a loaded Washington pass rush.
Past Fantasy Outlooks
2019
2016
Okwara broke out in 2018 with a team-leading 7.5 sacks for Detroit. However, the team then went out and spent big money on defensive end Trey Flowers in free agency to join a roster that already includes 2018 fourth-round steal Da'Shawn Hand. Mike Daniels was then brought on before training camp. While Okwara has garnered plenty of action with the first-team defense in training camp and the preseason while Hand nurses an arm injury, it's possible Okwara could revert to a rotational role behind Hand when both are fully healthy.
