2025 Fantasy Outlook
Sanders’ fall was the story of the draft, with various theories offered to explain why. In a nutshell, his slide to the fifth round means the league believes his raw talent isn't overwhelming enough to overcome his flaws, making him a likely backup at best. Sanders had an FBS-high 74.0 completion percentage last season, and he threw 64 touchdowns against just 13 interceptions during two seasons as Colorado's starter. He’s an accurate passer, but with merely average arm strength, and he's surprisingly slow for the son of Deion Sanders. Even so, Cleveland’s QB situation gives Sanders a chance to start. Dillon Gabriel, the Browns’ third-round pick, is undersized and without an elite trait. Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett are the veteran options, at least until Deshaun Watson returns from Achilles' surgery (which may not happen until late in the season, if at all). The situation gives Sanders a shot at Year 1 playing time despite his draft-day slide, but arm strength and mobility look like limiting factors for fantasy value even if he proves competent as a pro. Hopeful to return to practice
Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said Sunday he's hopeful that quarterbacks Sanders (oblique) and Kenny Pickett (hamstring) can increase their practice participation this week, but both players still are day-to-day, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sanders has been sidelined since sustaining an oblique injury during practice Wednesday; meanwhile, Pickett has been limited to 7-on-7 sessions while working his way back from a hamstring issue suffered in late July. Stefanski also said Sunday that he plans to name the team's QB1 this week, according to Albert Breer of SI.com. Veteran Joe Flacco looks like he has the inside track to start Week 1, considering his lengthy experience and the distribution of first-team snaps in practice during training camp. Third-round rookie Dillon Gabriel started Saturday's 22-13 preseason win over the Eagles while the 40-year-old Flacco sat out, seemingly for rest purposes. When all four quarterbacks are healthy, it seems that Flacco will be Cleveland's starter while Pickett is the primary backup, leaving Sanders and Gabriel to compete for the third-string role. The team also signed journeyman Tyler Huntley on Aug. 4, but he'll likely be let go from the active roster heading into the regular season.

Unlikely for second preseason game
Sanders is unlikely to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Eagles due to an oblique strain, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The injury occurred Wednesday morning during warmups, which led to Sanders being held out of the first day of joint practices with the Eagles. The development has resulted in Sanders being listed as day-to-day for the moment, but Oyefusi reports the rookie fifth-round pick, who impressed as the starter in the preseason opener against the Panthers, is unlikely to see any action against Philadelphia.
