In just his third game in a Ravens uniform, Gilman made his presence felt early in the first quarter after stripping the ball out of Tahj Washington's hands and recovering the ball himself, which resulted in a two-yard touchdown pass from Lamar Jackson to Mark Andrews four plays later. Gilman is up to 38 tackles (20 solo) and four pass defenses through eight regular-season games.

Gilman parlayed a breakout 2023 campaign (73 tackles and two picks in 14 games) as the clear starting safety opposite Derwin James into a new two-year deal with the Chargers, reportedly worth $11 million. While James figures to be the linchpin for new head coach Jim Harbaugh's defensive scheme, Gilman's flexibility as a coverage safety will be valuable in its own right and offers some reliability to a secondary that waited until Day 3 of the NFL Draft to add any depth pieces.
