2025 Fantasy Outlook
Now 30 years old, Williams is coming off a two-year stint in New Orleans that saw him manage just 3.1 yards per carry and two total rushing touchdowns, a far cry from the 17 TDs he racked up during his career-best 2022 campaign with Detroit. Williams' physical, contact-friendly running style may have caught up with him, and while he's always excelled at the little things that don't show up in a box score, that may not be enough to earn him a new NFL contract. Gets look from Chicago
Williams worked out with the Bears on Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams is still searching for a team after he was released by the Saints in early March. He spent the last two seasons in New Orleans and had a reduced role behind Alvin Kamara in 2024, finishing with 48 carries for 164 yards and one touchdown while adding nine catches (on 11 targets) for 57 yards across 14 regular-season games. Roschon Johnson is working through a foot injury, so Williams would be in line to compete against Kyle Monangai and Travis Homer for a backup role behind D'Andre Swift if he catches on with the Bears.

Williams was quickly targeted by the Saints in free agency following his 17-touchdown season with the Lions in 2022, but it turns out it's not as easy to score touchdowns in New Orleans as it is in Detroit. He went from running behind one of the league's best offensive lines to one of the worst, and he took double-digit carries just four times in 13 games. After finishing the year with 306 yards and one touchdown on 106 carries (2.9 YPC), the 29-year-old Williams would appear to be in danger of losing the No. 2 RB job to 2023 third-round pick Kendre Miller. The Saints don't have any financial incentive to release Williams, however, as his $4.63 million base salary for the upcoming season is guaranteed.

Visits with Miami
Williams worked out with the Dolphins on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Miami just lost Alexander Mattison to season-ending neck surgery, so adding another veteran to the backfield makes sense. Williams played 14 regular-season games for the Saints in 2024, averaging just 3.4 yards per carry on limited touches, and if he signs with the Dolphins, the 30-year-old might have a hard time earning a meaningful role behind De'Von Achane, Jaylen Wright and Ollie Gordon.
