Paye had the fifth-year option on his contract exercised Thursday, Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Paye had a successful third NFL season in 2023, recording career highs across the board, with 52 combined tackles, including 8.5 sacks. He also forced and recovered two fumbles. The Michigan product should now remain an integral part of the Colts' pass rush for the next two seasons.

Pro Bowler in sophomore campaign?
DEIndianapolis Colts
July 2, 2022
Nick Shook of NFL.com believes Paye could grow into a Pro Bowl-caliber pass rusher during his second NFL season in 2022.
ANALYSIS
Paye had a solid rookie campaign with 32 tackles, four sacks and one forced fumble over 15 games last season. The 2021 first-round pick did not necessarily live up to his lofty draft status, however, so developing into a more consistent pass rusher should be top of mind heading into 2022. Paye will have a prime opportunity to produce while playing alongside talented pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue and pocket-collapsing defensive tackle DeForest Buckner.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2021
Paye continued to improve in his second season as he posted six sacks and 45 tackles in 12 games. After playing a reserve role as a rookie, Paye moved into the starting lineup in 2022, but injured his ankle in Week 5, missing five of the next seven games. He then played his final four games on an ankle that wasn't at full strength. Now that he's set to reprise his starting role at defensive, he could produce double-digit sacks with better health.
Paye, the 21st overall pick in the 2021 draft, looks set to start at defensive end and build on a productive rookie season. He had just four sacks but was second on the team with 39 QB pressures (per PFF). He should improve his sack totals this season.
In selecting Paye in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, 21st overall, the Colts added one of the best pass rushers in this draft class. The Michigan product has the frame (6-2, 261) to hold up against the run and boasts athleticism as well, running a 4.57-second 40-yard dash. He projects to play with his hand in the ground in Indianapolis' 4-3 scheme.
