Tournament Preview

The Rolex Series continues this week with Irish Open hosted by the Rory Foundation. The tournament is being contested along the North Atlantic Ocean at Ballyliffin GC for the first time. The course is said to be a difficult, true test of links golf, that will require all aspects of your golf game to succeed. A star studded field will be in Ireland to compete for the inflated prize purse. This week without any course history to pull from, tournament history as well as links and wind play will help guide the picks.

DRAFTKINGS PICKS

Andy Sullivan - $9,800 (30/1)

I have been on Sullivan to win for some time now and see no reason to stop. He continues to put up high finishes, and Ballyliffin might be just what he needs to get to the winner's circle. He finished T20 last year in this tournament and T6 in 2015. He is a superb wind player and continually plays well on link courses. Sullivan has been sinking puts this year also, he is ranked 12th in SG: putting.

Shane Lowry - $9,100 (28/1)

Lowry might be my favorite play on the board. He comes to Ballyliffin following a T16 at Open de France and T15 at BMW PGA Championship. I am not putting much weight in the missed cut at the U.S. Open. He has won this tournament before and is another solid links course golfer. Shane is a ball striker looking to win on home soil. His DraftKings price, given his odds of winning, is quite appealing also.

Soren Kjeldsen - $8,300 (80/1)

Kjeldsen has had a return to good form after a slow first half of the season. He plays well in wind and has made a living playing links golf, winning this tournament in 2015. Kjeldsen's highest finish this season was a T7 last month at BMW International Open.

Eddie Pepperell - $7,100 (100/1)

Pepperell is a standout at the bottom price tier. He does come with risk given his recent finishes, but won earlier this year at Qatar Masters. He is another good ball striker who is ranked sixth in SG: approach on tour. He plays link courses well and finished T8 at this tournament in 2016, and T2 in 2015.
