Yahoo DFS Hockey: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

The Canadiens avoided the sweep, which means we still haven't seen a sweep since the Red Wings did it in 1998. In truth, I think this will be our last DFS opportunity for the season. With Game 5 in Tampa, I am fully expecting the Lightning to pull off the "gentleman's sweep" of the Canadiens. The lineup I picked for DFS purposes is indicative of that. You get $135 to pick your five-player lineup, including your superstar worth 1.5 times the points.

Check it out below...

SUPERSTAR

Andrei Vasilevskiy, TAM vs. MON ($38): Like I said, I'm expecting the Lightning to win. That would mean a win for Vasilevskiy, and a win is worth a lot of points for a goalie in Yahoo's DFS contests. We've also been hearing about the Russian's excellence in clinching games. Vasilevskiy shut out the Panthers, Hurricanes, and Islanders to end those three series. Will he have another shutout Wednesday? Maybe not, but he has a 1.99 GAA in the playoffs, so I don't expect more than two goals at most to get past him.

FLEX

Steven Stamkos, TAM vs. MON ($30): It hasn't been a great series for Stamkos since Game 1, but he has the potential to turn it around. After all, he saw 8:15 of power-play time in Game 4, and this is a guy with a lethal one-timer with the extra man. During the regular season he averaged 3:38 on the power play and had 10 power-play goals in 38 games. He has 18 points in 22 playoff games, including 12 with the extra man. If the Lightning get on the power play, Stamkos is a real weapon.

Victor Hedman, TAM vs. MON ($24): Speaking of the power play, Hedman had 24 points with the extra man this season. He's been fantastic in the postseason, tallying 18 points in 22 contests like Stamkos. However, the Swede also has 52 shots on goal and 46 blocked shots. Even in the Game 4 loss he had four shots on net and three blocked shots. Even when he isn't notching points, he's helping fantasy players out.

Brayden Point, TAM vs. MON ($24): Since his nine-game goal streak ended, Point only has three points. That's not ideal, but we can't overlook the fact he had that nine-game goal streak. Carey Price came up big in Game 4, and he got the Canadiens to this point in many ways. However, recently he's looked more like the goalie who had a .901 save percentage in the regular season. Over his last 11 games he has a .907 save percentage.

Ondrej Palat, TAM vs. MON ($19): I vacillated between Palat and Blake Coleman ($17), the latter of whom has a four-game point streak. Palat, though, has a better track record. He also skates on Tampa's top line and gets power-play time, unlike Coleman. It's not like Palat has been a slouch recently either. Over his last eight games he has seven points.
