DraftKings NHL: Friday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Kari Lehtonen, DAL at NJD ($7,500): Assuming Taylor Hall (knee) is sidelined again for the Devils Friday, this sets up as a solid matchup for Dallas and Lehtonen. The Stars are ranked fourth lowest in expected goals against and have surrendered the fifth fewest high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes, and the veteran Finn enters with a .930 save percentage through his past five contests.

CENTER

Logan Couture, SAN at VAN ($6,400): While he's missed the scoresheet in five of his past seven outings, Couture still has two goals and two assists during the stretch and a rock-solid 2.75 points per 60 minutes for the campaign. Chasing his upside against the Canucks is in play with Vancouver allowing 3.47 goals and 12.0 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes over the past 10 contests.

Victor Rask, CAR at BUF ($3,500): With three goals, eight shots and an average of 16:13 of ice time (3:14 with the man advantage) through his past four games, Rask's potentially in the beginning stages of a heater. His salary is easy to accommodate, and this isn't a daunting setup with the Sabres questionable supporting cast likely presenting a lot of soft in-game matchups for Rask.

WING

Jamie Benn, DAL at NJD ($7,400): Opposing netminder Keith Kinkaid has surrendered at least three goals in each of his past seven starts and owns an .893 save percentage and 3.48 GAA for the campaign. Benn enters with scoresheet appearances in six of his past seven contests, including a three-point night last time out. He's a strong lean with New Jersey also on the second leg of a back-to-back set.

Tyler Toffoli, LA at NYR ($5,600): The American winger checks out as a solid value in a soft matchup against the Rangers. Toffoli has recorded a high-end 1.65 goals and solid 2.6 points per 60 minutes this season, and New York ranks second highest in expected goals against and have surrendered the second most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes.

Elias Lindholm, CAR at BUF ($3,800): The 23-year-old Swede is beginning to turn his season around with five goals, nine points and 31 shots through his past 15 games. He's a strong stack candidate with linemate Victor Rask, and Lindholm also offers significant cap relief without punting upside.

DEFENSE

John Klingberg, DAL at NJD ($5,900): Among all defensemen with at least 600 minutes, Klingberg's 2.14 points per 60 minutes pace the league. He's locked into a huge workload and contributing at a high level. As noted, this is a soft matchup for Dallas, and Klingberg's likely going to be a popular choice from the shallow defense pool. He's also gone 16 games and 35 shots without a goal, and if statistical correction strikes, the Swede owns contest-winning upside.

Morgan Rielly, TOR at DET ($5,300): After a late-November lull, Rielly has bounced back with a goal, three assists and 12 shots through his past six contests and sports a rock-solid 1.78 points per 60 minutes for the campaign. Detroit has lost 10 of its past 11 games, and Toronto will be looking to rebound from consecutive loses. It's a good spot to target Rielly, as he's added more offensive punch to his game this season with an uptick in shot volume and power-play production.
