Analyzing NHL Pick'Em Plays with Top Player Prop Value

Kirill Kaprizov Over 0.5 Goals at New Jersey Devils - 7:00 p.m. ET

Looking at the odds makers, Kaprizov is the biggest favorite on the night to find the back of the net at +115, so I like the fact that you can snag him at over 0.5 goals as a Demon play. The Russian winger has five goals in seven games this year while putting 28 shots on net. Four of those tallies have come with the man advantage, though he faces a stiff test from the Devils, whose penalty-kill percentage is 95.5 through six games. Still, he's the favorite on the slate to find the back of the net for a reason.

Emmitt Finnie Over 2.5 Shots at Buffalo Sabres - 7:30 p.m. ET

Finnie was a bit of a surprise addition to the Red Wings' roster coming out of training camp, but has been consistently playing on the top line with Dylan Larkin through the first six games of the year. The youngster keeps getting better as he gets more comfortable at the NHL level, including a three-point performance versus the Oilers on Sunday. For the season, Finnie has only hit this Demon play twice, but those are his two most recent performances, and the Sabres are allowing the second-most shots on goal this year at 33.5 per game.

Lane Hutson Over 22.75 Time on Ice at Calgary Flames - 8:30 p.m. ET

So far this year, Hutson is averaging 22:28 of ice time, so below the threshold for this one, but that comes with 3:35 with the man advantage. Those numbers have been steadily increasing, as the young blueliner has logged over 23 minutes of ice time in three of his last four games. Combine that with the fact that Calgary is the second-most penalized team in the league in terms of PIM per game (13:25), and there should be plenty of minutes out there for Hutson.
