Yahoo DFS Hockey: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

A healthy 11-game slate provides plenty of opportunity for daily fantasy excellence. Read on to discover where you might find some great values.

Goalie

Keith Kinkaid, NJ @ OTT ($27)

With Cory Schneider (groin) on the shelf, Kinkaid has been absolutely tremendous, winning five of his last six starts and allowing just 2.30 goals per game on average over that span. The Devils' chances to beat a downtrodden Ottawa squad that has lost seven of its last nine contests boosts the 28-year-old's stock considerably, and he figures to be a great value at this relatively low price point.

Goalie to Avoid

Marc-Andre Fleury, VGK @ PIT ($36)

There's been little denying the greatness of Fleury's first season away from Pittsburgh, but although he's won four of his last five starts, there have been notable flaws in his play lately -- over the five game span, Flower has allowed at least two goals in each contest, showing a .915 save percentage. Additionally, the goalie's former team has been on fire at PPG Paints Arena, averaging 5.14 goals per game over the last seven contests.

Center

Sean Monahan, CGY @ CHI ($19)

Monahan has been a scoring machine lately, going on a point-per-game pace in his last 13 contests. The 23-year-old has been shot-happy too, as he's taken 27 shots on goal on his way to three goals over the last five contests, with his most recent goal coming in overtime Saturday against this same Blackhawks team that will have Jeff Glass in goal. This should be an easy fantasy day for Monahan, so roll him out there at this sub-20-dollar price.

Center to Avoid

Brayden Schenn, STL vs. MIN ($24)

Schenn's 12 points in the last 18 games is pretty uninspiring, and his peripheral stats over that span are not outstanding either -- over the same time period, the Saskatchewan native shows a minus-3 rating with just three power-play points. Minnesota allows just 2.87 goals per game on average and has very much held Schenn in check this season, allowing him to record no points and just two shots on goal over the two games they've faced each other.

Wings

Cam Atkinson, CLS vs. WAS ($17)

Atkinson's extremely poor first half of the season has driven his price down to a very affordable range, but let's not forget that this is the same player who posted 35 goals and 62 points last season. The Connecticut native returned from a foot injury on Jan. 25 and promptly began a four-game point streak that has seen him fire 20 shots on goal. This Washington team is leaky too, allowing 3.54 goals per game in road contests.

Teuvo Teravainen, CAR vs. PHI ($17)

Teravainen has been a solid contributor all over the ice recently, recording five points and a plus-4 rating over the last five games, and his willingness to take shots on goal (32 over the last 10 games) is encouraging as well. The young Finn's prominent place on Carolina's power play should be of immense benefit against Philadelphia's penalty kill, a unit that kills just 74.2 percent of its penalties, good for 29th in the league.

Wings to Avoid

Gabriel Landeskog, COL vs. SJ ($23)

In two games without usual linemate Nathan MacKinnon (shoulder), Landeskog has just looked off, having recorded two assists, a minus-2 rating and just two shots on goal. Playing without the excellent MacKinnon for the next few weeks is going to make life more difficult for Landeskog, especially so against a Sharks teams that kills off 84.3 of its penalties and allows just 2.67 goals per game, good for second and ninth in the league, respectively.

Evander Kane, BUF vs. ANH ($22)

Kane's daily price remains in the high range despite his point drought now extending out to eight games. Over that span, we've seen the winger's involvement in the offense dwindle significantly, as evidenced by his 18 shots on goal and 1:50 of average power-play ice time, and his defense continue to be a major liability, as evidenced the minus-5 rating. Stay away from Kane until you can buy low.

Defensemen

Alexander Edler, VAN @ FLA ($19)

Edler has quietly been a strong offensive asset for the Canucks and fantasy players of late, compiling nine points and 36 shots on goal over the last 11 contests. The Swede is also a great shot blocker, as shown by his 110 blocked shots on the campaign, and that could very well play to his advantage Tuesday against a Florida team that averages a league-high 34.5 shots on goal per game.

Torey Krug, BOS @ DET ($19)

Krug has been about as essential a piece of the Bruins' recent offensive outburst as anyone else on the roster, recording nine points and 21 shots on goal while logging 2:35 of average power-play ice time over an eight-game span. The last time the Michigan native played in Detroit, he managed two assists and a plus-1 rating, so count on another potential positive game against this Red Wings team that has lost five home games in a row.

Defensemen to Avoid

Erik Karlsson, OTT vs. NJ ($26)

Karlsson continues to be a fantasy detriment rather than an asset, as he now shows four points and a terrible minus-10 rating over the last 11 contests. As alluded to earlier in the article, New Jersey is quite sound at the goalie position right now, lowering the Senators captain's chances of getting involved offensively, so considering he is the second most expensive d-man on the board, you can find better, cheaper options in the 11-game slate.

Rasmus Ristolainen, BUF vs. ANH ($19)

Ristolainen's season has been marred by inconsistency, as he has gone on streaks and droughts throughout the whole campaign. After working his way through a 12-game, 13-point streak, the Finnish defenseman, now finds himself without a point in the last three games, a trend that could hold up considering a span that saw him record two points in 14 games earlier this season. Don't count on him turning it around against a defensively sound Anaheim team.
