Veronica Macedo
Succumbs to grappling in loss
FlyweightUFC
February 23, 2019
Macedo lost to Gillian Robertson via submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:37 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night 145 in Prague, Czech Republic on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Macedo had moments of success in this fight but simply spent too much time on her back to ever be comfortable. The Venezuelan looked as though she might be pulling away with the use of her sweeps but ultimately found herself in mount, which led to the finish. A taekwondo practitioner by trade, Macedo uses a lot of long range attacks and movement but doesn't seem to have a game that is put together well enough to succeed at the highest level. She falls to 5-3-1 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.

Added to Prague card
FlyweightUFC
January 29, 2019
Macedo (undisclosed) will take on Gillian Robertson at UFC Prague on Feb. 23.
ANALYSIS
Macedo has lost both of her fights since joining the UFC and hasn't won a bout with any promotion since July of 2016. She's apparently gotten over the undisclosed injury which cancelled her last scheduled fight, which would have come against Maryna Moroz in November. She'll be facing a similarly inexperienced fighter in Robertson (also 23 years old). Robertson lost her most recent fight against Mayra Bueno Silva in September but does have two wins since joining the UFC.
Withdraws from Argentina card
FlyweightUFC
October 3, 2018
Macedo has withdrawn from her flyweight matchup against Maryna Moroz at UFC Argentina on Nov. 17 due to an undisclosed injury, Combate reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear what is ailing Macedo, but she'll be replaced on the card by UFC newcomer Ariane Lipski. Macedo has came up short in her only two UFC appearances, and needs to get healthy -- and back in the win column -- in order to keep her roster spot safe.
Booked for UFC Argentina
FlyweightUFC
September 13, 2018
Macedo will take on Maryna Moroz in a flyweight bout at UFC Argentina on Nov. 17.
ANALYSIS
She is just 22 years old, but Macedo has certainly struggled since joining the UFC. She has taken part in just two UFC fights since signing with them in 2016, but she has fallen in each bout. Most recently, Macedo lost to Andrea Lee via unanimous decision at UFC Chile back in May. It won't get any easier in Argentina against an experienced fighter like Moroz, as the 27-year-old boasts a 8-3 record overall in MMA but has lost each of her last two bouts herself.
Has nothing for Andrea Lee at UFC Chile
FlyweightUFC
May 19, 2018
Macedo lost to Andrea Lee via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Santiago, Chile.
ANALYSIS
Macedo had some moments with her kicks, but for the most part, she was playing catchup in this fight. She had no answers for the clinch, and she had no strategy to stop takedowns. Macedo had enough scramble ability to avoid submissions on the ground, but she had virtually no offense besides her kicks. She is still only 22, but she will need to vastly improve in order to keep a job in the UFC. On the bright side, she'll take home a cool $50,000 for participating in UFC Chile's Fight of the Night.
To fight Andrea Lee instead of Lisa Lansberg
FlyweightUFC
February 26, 2018
Macedo is scheduled to fight Andrea Lee on May 19 at a UFC event in Santiago, Chile, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
An injury has forced Macedo to drop from her scheduled fight against Lina Lansberg that was supposed to take place March 18 in London, but it didn't take her long to schedule her next brawl. She'll now take on an opponent in Lee who is yet to make her UFC debut, though is 8-2 in her career otherwise.
