Endures questionable decision loss
July 24, 2021
Maverick lost to Maycee Barber via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC on ESPN 27 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Maverick appeared to have banked two rounds in this fight by the time Barber poured on the aggression in the third period, but the judges must have felt that "The Future" had done enough in the clinch to supersede Maverick's back take at the end of Round 2. Maverick has shown herself to be a great striker and grappler, but it seemed as though the physicality of Barber simply got to be too much, leaving the 24-year-old gassed and looking for a place to rest down the stretch. Still, one could make the argument that Maverick should be undefeated in the UFC, which indicates that her future is still as bright as ever. Maverick falls to 9-3 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.

Secures win at UFC 260
March 27, 2021
Maverick defeated Gillian Robertson via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) at UFC 260 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
It was another solid, yet inconsistent, effort from Maverick. That shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone considering the Missouri native won't be turning 24 years of age until July. Maverick dominated Round 1 on the strength of her striking, but Robertson was the more effective fighter in Round 2 on the strength of her grappling. The fact Maverick managed to put together a strong final frame on the mat is a good sign. Maverick is both talented and aggressive, but she is prone to many of the mistakes you would expect from a fighter who is so young. The only thing that matters at this point is that she remains healthy and continues to get reps inside the Octagon. The rest will take care of itself.

The scheduled fight between Maverick and Gillian Robertson has been removed from the card for UFC 258 on Saturday after Robertson decided to withdraw with a non-COVID related illness, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.
This announcement comes just hours before Maverick and Robertson were supposed to square off. Two of her last three fights have been called off now as she'll look ahead to hopefully finding a new opponent later this year.
