Stephanie Egger

Enters UFC win column
October 2, 2021
Egger defeated Shanna Young via TKO (strikes) at 2:22 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Egger was the more effective fighter through the duration of the bout and likely would have won a decision had it seen the final bell, but a baffling stoppage by referee Mark Smith earned her a knockout win in her second UFC fight. Egger leaned on her grappling advantage to score two successful takedowns which resulted in more than three minutes worth of control time. She didn't do a ton with her positional advantage, but Smith decided Young wasn't defending herself to his satisfaction and called off the bout about halfway through the second frame. Egger is now in the UFC win column, but she's 33 years old and has no history of defeating better competition, so it's unlikely there is a run forthcoming despite this victory.

Appears to be taking on Young
September 19, 2021
Egger will take on Shanna Young in a bantamweight matchup at the UFC event scheduled for Oct. 2, Tom Feely of Sherdog reports (via Marcel Dorff of MMADNA).
Egger managed just 10 significant strikes across 15 minutes in her UFC debut against Tracy Cortez last October, falling as a big underdog after being asked to serve as a short-notice replacement. She'll face an opponent with a similar path, as Young lost to Macy Chiasson in February of 2020 as a short-notice replacement as well. Egger is listed with a three-inch greater reach, but she'll be giving up a one-inch height advantage to her opponent. At 33 years old and with only seven pro fights under her belt, it's tie to see what the UFC has here.
Out of upcoming fight
May 16, 2021
Eggar was forced to withdraw Sunday from her fight against Sarah Alper at the UFC event on May 22, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
It's currently unknown why Egger had to withdraw from the fight but the UFC has already found her opponent, Sarah Alpar, a new opponent in Lupita Godinez. Egger hasn't fought since dropping her debut against Tracy Cortez on October 10 and will now have to wait longer to try and secure her first win in the promotion.
Next UFC bout on books
April 13, 2021
Egger will square off against Sarah Alpar on the May 22 card, TKO Combat Sports & Entertainment reports.
Egger struggled to get much going in her UFC debut back in October, falling via unanimous decision in a fairly one-sided affair. She will need to display some improvements from that performance in order to get into the win column as she prepares to take on Alpar, who is looking to bounce back from a loss to Jessica-Rose Clark that resulted in a possible fractured nose. Egger stands two inches taller and owns a five-inch reach advantage, which she will likely need to use to her advantage to nab a victory.
Falls in UFC debut
October 10, 2020
Egger lost to Tracy Cortez via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
Egger entered Saturday's affair with all of six professional fights under her belt, and her lack of experience was on display early and often. She consistently struggled with positioning issues in a fight that was almost entirely contested in close quarters. This theoretically should have worked out well for Egger considering she was the woman with a larger frame, but she simply didn't have the requite skills to take advantage of the opportunity. Egger is 32 years old and has spent her entire career on the regional circuit outside of one fight in Invicta back in November 2016. There simply isn't much here.
To debut against Cortez
October 5, 2020
Egger will make her UFC debut against Tracy Cortez in a bantamweight matchup at the UFC event scheduled for Oct. 10 on Fight Island, Aaron Bronsteter of reports.
Egger has just six pro fights to her name, as she's most recently competed under a promotion called "Buddy MMA" in early-September. She'll have a height advantage over Cortez, but Cortez is the much younger fighter with higher-quality experience. As of the start of fight week, Egger finds herself listed as approximately a (+200) betting underdog.
