Hadley defeated Mitch Raposo via submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:11 of Round 2 at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. After the show, he was one of three fighters to be awarded an official UFC contract.
Hadley no doubt has the skills to compete in the UFC flyweight division, as he outclassed his opponent both on the ground and on the feet, looking every bit the part of a (-290) betting favorite. The problem here is that he missed weight by a pound, which is almost always a death sentence in terms of getting a contract via DWCS. It also seems like there were other issues out of the Octagon, as Hadley seemingly had some problems with UFC staff during the week. According to Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca
, the decision to sign the 25-year-old resulted in UFC matchmakers storming out of the arena. When the cameras were on, however, Hadley appeared humble, emotional and apologetic. He'll hope to prove White right by making an immediate impact in the flyweight division.
