Marion Reneau
Belizean Brusier
Starts slowly in loss to Yana Kunitskaya
March 9, 2019
Reneau lost to Yana Kunitskaya via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Wichita, Kansas.
Reneau fought a bit better than the term 'unanimous decision loss' would lead you to believe. She started slowly before eventually gaining her footing. Reneau's biggest strength is her physicality, but her technical skills are sorely lacking and she struggles in anything other than a brawl. Saturday's brawl began too late. Reneau is in excellent shape for a woman who is set to turn 42 years of age in June, but we have almost certainly already seen the best she has to offer.

To face Yana Kunitskaya
January 8, 2019
Reneau will take on Yana Kunitskaya in a bantamweight bout at UFC Wichita on March 9.
Reneau had a four-match unbeaten streak end in July when she lost by unanimous decision against Cat Zingano. Kunitskaya, 12 years her junior at age 29, has alternated between losses and wins for four straight fights, most recently beating Lina Lansberg by unanimous decision at UFC 229.
Dominated by Cat Zingano Saturday in Boise
July 14, 2018
Reneau lost to Cat Zingano via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 26-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Boise, Idaho.
The loss aside, this was a highly concerning performance for Reneau. For the first time in her UFC career, the 41-year-old high school phys. ed teacher looked overwhelmed inside the octagon. Reneau spent nearly the entire fight on her back as Zingano was able to drag her to the mat repeatedly and without issue. As a result, Reneau landed just 38 total strikes over the course of the 15-minute bout. "The Belizean Bruiser" has little room for error moving forward.
Will fight Cat Zingano at UFC Boise
April 20, 2018
Reneau is set to fight Cat Zingano at UFC Boise on July 14, Shaun Al-Shatti of reports.
Reneau (9-3-1) has won her past four UFC fights, most notably defeating Sara McMann via second-round submission in February at UFC on Fox 28. Her opponent, Zingano (9-3) is coming off a three-fight losing streak, most recently suffering a split-decision loss to Ketlen Vieira at UFC 222 following a two-year layoff.
Stuns Sara McMann with triangle choke Saturday in Orlando
February 24, 2018
Reneau defeat Sara McMann via submission (triangle choke) at 3:40 of Round 2 at UFC on FOX 28 on Saturday in Orlando.
Reneau deserves a ton of credit. She could have easily given up in Round 1 and lived to fight another day, but she battled to see the end of the frame and turned the tables on the underachieving McMann in Round 2. Reneau is one of the rare women in the division that can come close to matching the brute strength of McMann and it may very well have kept her alive to give her enough time to win the fight. Outside of a controversial split decision loss to Ashlee Evans-Smith and a unanumous decision loss to former UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm, Reneau's 8-fight UFC run has been a rousing success. It's nearly impossible to believe that the 40-year-old still works full-time as a high school teacher.
Gets rebooked for Orlando card
January 18, 2018
Reneau will now take on Sara McMann at UFC Orlando on Feb. 24, reports.
Reneau was originally scheduled to face Tonya Evinger on Feb. 18, but Evinger was forced to withdraw due to an undisclosed injury. Her fight camp won't go to waste, however, as she'll be pinned against an experienced opponent that has faced the best bantamweights the UFC has to offer. Reneau has finished two of her last three opponents, but the 40-year-old seems likely to enter as a betting underdog against McMann.
