Flattened in UFC debut
Ribeiro lost to Zhang Mingyang via KO (punches) at 1:41 of Round 1 at UFC 298 on Saturday in Anaheim.
ANALYSIS
It was going well for Ribeiro. Until it wasn't. The Brazilian earned his UFC opportunity following a back-and-forth Round 1 knockout win on Dana White's Contender Series this past September. It was more of the same here against Zhang, only Ribeiro ended up being the nail instead of the hammer, as one big three-piece combo from Zhang finished him in an instant. The power is clearly legitimate, but it's impossible to see Ribeiro's UFC run lasting too long given his complete disregard towards defending himself.

Mingyang fight re-scheduled
Ribeiro will compete against Zhang Mingyang in a light heavyweight fight at UFC 298 on Feb. 17, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Following the cancellation of UFC China, the Ribeiro-Mingyang fight was pushed back two months. On the plus side for Ribeiro, he no longer has to do a quick turnaround and can fight Mingyang without having a home-country advantage against him.

Quick turnaround for debut
Ribeiro will take on Zhang Mingyang in a light heavyweight matchup at UFC China on December 9, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Ribeiro was featured in the latest season of Dana White's Contender Series, where he was signed to the promotion following a first-round victory over Bruno Lopes. The 27-year-old prospect will now draw a fellow debutante in the 25-year-old Mingyang, a fighter who already has 22 professional bouts under his belt despite the relatively young age. Ribeiro will own a massive, six-inch reach advantage when the cage doors close, but Mingyang should have the crowd behind him, as he'll be fighting in his home country.

Survives war, earns contract
Ribeiro defeated Bruno Lopes via KO/TKO (straight right and hammerfists) at 3:47 of Round 1 at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. After the show, he was one of five fighters to be awarded an official UFC contract.
ANALYSIS
Ribiero began the fight by showing off a long jab that was used for managing range and doing damage. "The Gorilla" couldn't hold Lopes off for long, however, and the bout quickly devolved into two powerful men swinging for a finish. Despite taking some damage, Ribiero was able to come out on top when a counter right hand found the mark on his opponent. The Brazilian fighter looks to have the makings of a functional boxing game and is far more experienced than most of the fighters on The Contender Series. When we consider that all 15 of his wins have come via stoppage, Ribeiro begins to look like a promising addition to the light heavyweight division.
