Closer Watch - A closer look at intriguing ninth-inning situations (also check out our Closer Grid)
Baltimore – Just when it looked like the Orioles had resolved to finish the season with Jim Johnson as the closer, the team turned to Kevin Gregg to close out Saturday's win. Gregg allowed a hit and struck out one. Looks like it could be either Gregg or Johnson on any given day.
Chicago White Sox – Save situations have not been plentiful of late in Chicago. Until Saturday, Santos had seen only one opportunity since September 6 and he blew it.
New York Mets – By the time I wrote this column yesterday, Manny Acosta had converted his third save. He converted his second save of the day to notch both in the doubleheader. Rogue saves could be had between now and the end of the season if you are looking for them.
Pittsburgh – We haven't seen the Pirates very often on this list, but Jason Grilli picked up Saturday night's save as Joel Hanrahan got a night off. Hanrahan had thrown 30 pitches the night before.

Recommended Pickup
Jarrod Parker, P, ARI – The NL West has been clinched and that paves the way for Parker to make his MLB debut on Tuesday. Parker was a top flight prospect who could already be a contributor with the Diamondbacks, but Tommy John surgery threw a wrinkle into things during the 2009 season. After missing all of 2010, Parker spent all of this season in Double-A, where he went 11-8 with a 3.79 ERA and 112 strikeouts in 130.2 innings. Parker should be introduced permanently in mid-2012, but he is a good keeper stasher if he hits the wire. Tuesday's start will be at home against the Dodgers, which could be useful as a streaming option.
