DFS College Basketball: Monday Preview

DFS College Basketball: Monday Preview

This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.

DraftKings is running a six-game slate Monday featuring teams from a variety of conferences. One of the featured contests on the platform is the $10K Heating Up, which pays out $2,000 to the winner. With three teams expected to score at least 70 points Monday, there's sure to be plenty of value on the slate. As always, the expected totals and point spreads from RotoWire's Daily Matchups feature are included below:

Top Players

Ryan Hawkins, F, Creighton ($7,200 DK, $7,900 FD)

Hawkins has been a consistent performer for the Bluejays for most of the season, and he's coming off a career-best performance in Saturday's win over Georgetown in which he tallied 30 points, 12 rebounds and six assists in 37 minutes. He'll attempt to remain hot in Monday's rematch with the Hoyas. Hawkins now has double-doubles in two of his last four appearances. Although he struggled against Seton Hall on Feb. 4 when he put up two points, a rebound and an assist in 30 minutes, his rematch against Georgetown presents a favorable matchup Monday, particularly since Creighton has one of the highest expected totals on the slate after posting 80 points Saturday. Further helping the case for Hawkins is the expected absence of Arthur Kaluma (knee) and his 5.0 rpg average.

Will Richardson, G, Oregon ($7,600 DK, $8,000 FD)

Richardson has remained consistent on the scoreboard recently, and he's posted at least 30.5 DK points in each of the last three matchups ,since he's also been effective in rebounds and assists. His fantasy results took a slight hit Saturday against California since he committed a season-high seven turnovers, but he still nearly recorded a double-double with 22 points and nine assists. The Ducks are expected to be held just below 70 points against their Pac-12 rivals Monday, but Richardson has been a strong fantasy contributor regardless of the team's final tally on the scoreboard.

Middle Tier

Darin Green, G, Central Florida ($5,600 DK)

Green has served exclusively as a starter for the Knights this season, and he's been especially productive recently with double-digit scoring totals in five of his last six appearances. He's maintained a solid fantasy floor during that time, as he hasn't dropped below 15.3 DK points across those six games. While that wouldn't have provided excessive value at his current salary, he's displayed plenty of upside, as he's logged at least 29.5 DK points in two of his last three appearances. Central Florida has one of the highest expected totals on Monday's slate, so Green should have ample opportunities to remain involved.

Moussa Cisse, F, Oklahoma State ($5,000 DK, $5,800 FD)

Cisse has been less consistent than Green in the scoring column, but he's maintained solid fantasy production due to his combination of scoring and output on the boards. He's seen more looks from the floor recently and has converted 65.4 percent of his field-goal attempts across the last three games. Cisse has scored in double figures in two of those three appearances, and he posted his first double-double since Nov. 16 during Saturday's blowout win over West Virginia. While he hasn't needed excessive results on the scoreboard to produce in fantasy, his recent uptick in scoring has certainly propped up his value.

Value Plays

Selton Miguel, G/F, Kansas State ($3,400 DK, $4,600 FD)

Miguel returned from a four-game absence Saturday against Iowa State, and he was a strong DFS contributor during the win with 19.8 DK points despite coming off the bench. He had started in each of the eight games leading up to his absence, so it's not yet clear whether he'll reclaim his spot in the starting rotation at some point. However, his usage against the Cyclones signals that he should see consistent playing time regardless of his starting status. Miguel has had double-digit points on DraftKings in all but two of his appearances this season and has good potential to provide value at his low salary Monday.

Mike McGuirl, G/F, Kansas State ($4,000 DK $5,200 FD)

One of the primary beneficiaries of Selton Miguel's recent absence has been McGuirl, who has taken on a starting role in each of the last five games. While the fifth-year player has shown some inconsistency, he's also had plenty of upside by scoring at least 21.3 DK points in three of the last four games. It's not yet clear whether McGuirl or Miguel will draw the start against Kansas on Monday, but both players have reasonable salaries and have proven to have plenty of DFS potential regardless of their starting status.
