College Football DFS: Friday Picks
The college football season rolls on in Week 6, and Friday night features a solid five games and no shortage of storylines. As such, there are plenty of intriguing players and matchups to dive into.
DraftKings and FanDuel are both up and running Friday night, and below we break down some of the best plays on each slate.
Friday College Football DFS Slate Overview
Though this game is only available on FanDuel's slate, Delaware and Western Kentucky is a fascinating way to kick things off. This clash between the Group of Six powerhouse Hilltoppers and the FBS newcomer Blue Hens, both of whom are off to excellent starts in 2025, is expected to produce the most points of the night with a total set at 61.5. And with Delaware a slim 2.5-point favorite, both offenses are expected to light it up, making this matchup highly appealing.
Elsewhere in the earlier window, Charlotte heads down to Tampa to take on USF. The Bulls are the biggest favorite on the slate, and you might want a piece of their offense as they face the 49ers' 117th-ranked total defense.
The nightcap features three West Coast games, with the only two Power Four programs on the slate squaring off as No. 23 BYU hosts West Virginia. The offense in Morgantown has been a mess, and an extremely stingy BYU defense is further indication that Mountaineers' skill players are best avoided.
Further West, New Mexico at San Jose State is

Further West, New Mexico at San Jose State is expected to be a barnburner with the second-highest point total of the evening (58.5). The Spartans boast the 21st-ranked total passing offense in the country, while the Lobos have scored at least 32 points in three straight games and face a highly permeable San Jose State defense. Both offenses are ripe for the picking.

DFS Plays on DraftKings and FanDuel for Friday, October 3
QB Walker Eget, San Jose State vs. New Mexico ($8,300 on DraftKings, $10,100 on FanDuel)
You'd only really consider Eget a bargain on FanDuel, where he's the fourth-priciest signal caller available. Still, I like the Spartans' quarterback for both slates, largely due to the Lobos' soft pass defense that's allowed 255.0 passing yards per game. San Jose State's aerial attack, meanwhile, has thrived: the Spartans sit just outside the top 20 nationally in passing while Eget is off to a solid start and just tossed for a staggering 473 yards and three touchdowns against Stanford. If the quarterback is indeed catching fire, the New Mexico defense should only fan the flames.
RB Scottre Humphrey, New Mexico vs. San Jose State ($6,300 on DraftKings, $7,200 on FanDuel)
When healthy, Humphrey has been the focal point of the Lobos' ground game. The Montana State transfer has 47 carries for 263 yards and three touchdowns this season. He also caught an eight-yard touchdown last week against the Aggies, and while he hasn't traditionally been a receiving back, it's encouraging to see him contribute in multiple facets. The San Jose State secondary appears to be the weakest link in its defense, but its run defense has still allowed 145.0 yards per game and 1.5 touchdowns per game. In what's expected to be a shoot-out, Humphrey should have every opportunity to cash in.
TE Dorian Thomas, New Mexico vs. San Jose State ($6,000 on DraftKings, $7,900 on FanDuel)
At this point, we've extensively laid out the reasons why you should be all over this Mountain West showdown on both sides. But Thomas, New Mexico's leading receiver by a wide margin, is staring you in the face for both slates. He's just the sixth-most expensive receiver on DraftKings and the eighth-priciest on FanDuel. Meanwhile, he's been one of the more dangerous pass-catching tight ends in the FBS with 24 grabs for 247 yards and three touchdowns. As if this matchup wasn't already enticing enough, the Spartans allow 9.0 fantasy points per game to tight ends — the worst mark in the Mountain West.
Also Consider: WR Chase Roberts, BYU ($8,300 DraftKings; $6,500 FanDuel) vs. West Virginia
DraftKings College Football DFS Picks for Friday, October 3
QB Jack Layne, New Mexico ($7,500) vs. San Jose State (N/A on FanDuel)
Lane has quietly been very solid for the upstart Lobos since the season-opening loss to Michigan. He's been efficient and careful with the football: Lane has completed 69.3 percent of his passes, and his three turnovers all came in Week 1 against one of the nation's most formidable defenses. What's more, he appears to be heating up, as last week in the rivalry clash with New Mexico State, the gunslinger tossed for 303 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77 percent of his throws. Now, he gets to face a San Jose State defense that allows 277.0 yards per game through the air as well as 9.7 yards per attempt, both the highest marks on the Friday night slate. To sweeten the deal, he's affordable as just the fourth-priciest quarterback.
RB Lucky Sutton, San Diego State ($6,800) vs. Colorado State ($7,600 on FanDuel)
Sutton isn't exactly cheap, but he's well worth the cost of admission against a porous Colorado State defense that's allowed 169.0 rushing yards and 1.8 rushing touchdowns per game. The Rams are also allowing 26.4 fantasy points per game to running backs, the second-worst mark in the Mountain West. It's a very favorable matchup, and Sutton is set up to be the main beneficiary, as he's been a workhorse with 35 more carries than the next closest Aztecs tailback.
WR Keshaun Singleton, South Florida ($5,500) vs. Charlotte ($8,100 on FanDuel)
The Bulls are projected to score the most out of any team on this slate against a struggling Charlotte defense, and while South Florida is a run-heavy offense, everyone should get a chance to feast against the 49ers. That includes Singleton, who's reeled in 13 catches for 235 yards and two touchdowns this fall. The wideout has been consistently involved in the passing game and now gets to face a Charlotte secondary that's allowed 266.8 passing yards per game. The 49ers also surrender 25.0 fantasy points per game to wide receivers, the second-worst mark in the AAC. What's more, Singleton is a deal here as just the 10th-priciest wideout on the slate.
FanDuel College Football DFS Picks for Friday, October 3
QB Maverick McIvor, Western Kentucky ($9,800) vs. Delaware (N/A on DraftKings)
FanDuel offers the Western Kentucky at Delaware game, and considering it's expected to be a high-scoring, fantasy-friendly affair, our FanDuel picks will consist of Hilltoppers and Blue Hens. At quarterback, the Western Kentucky gunslinger McIvor is an excellent choice. He's just the fifth-most expensive quarterback on the slate, and he faces a Delaware defense that's allowed 241.3 pass yards per game and 7.4 yards per attempt. The Blue Hens have also surrendered 23.9 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, the fourth-worst mark in Conference USA. McIvor, meanwhile, has been extremely productive, tossing for 1,474 yards, 11 touchdowns and two interceptions while completing 67 percent of his passes with a rushing score as well.
RB Jo'Nathan Silver, Delaware ($9,500) vs. Western Kentucky (N/A on DraftKings)
This is far from a sneaky pick, as Silver is the priciest back available on FanDuel. Still, the Blue Hens' ballcarrier is worth the price tag here in a very favorable matchup. The Hilltoppers allow a whopping 210.8 rushing yards per game and 5.8 yards per carry, both of which are easily the most of any team on the slate. As such, they surrender 21.0 fantasy points per game to running backs; Silver should be licking his chops in this one. He got off to somewhat of a slow start this year, but has 28 carries for 245 yards and three scores in his last two outings.
WR Matthew Henry, Western Kentucky ($7,700) vs. Delaware (N/A on DraftKings)
Again, it's wise to get in on this Hilltoppers' passing attack against the Blue Hens for the reasons laid out above. And FanDuel lets you snag Western Kentucky's top receiver at something of a bargain — he's just the ninth-priciest wideout on the slate. Henry not only leads the Hilltoppers in receiving with 17 catches for 278 yards and three touchdowns, he's tied for the team lead in targets with 30, meaning there's a concerted effort to get him the ball. The WKU passing game should thrive in Newark, Delaware on Friday night.
