England and Sri Lanka are ready to face off in the 27th match of the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup 2019 in Leeds on Friday. Headingley in Leeds will be used as the venue for the contest which will be hosting its 42nd ODI on Friday. Highest team score of 351-9 in a 50-over contest was registered by England in the match against Pakistan in 2019, whereas lowest team total of 93 was also registered by England in the match against Australia in 1975. Highest individual score of 152 in an ODI at the ground was registered by Sri Lanka's Sanath Jayasuriya in 2006, whereas best bowling figures of 7-36 was registered by Pakistan's Waqar Younis in 2001.

For the home side, the game is an opportunity to strengthen their chances of cementing their place in the semi-finals with another win, currently on eight points from five matches. In the batting department, England will be relying on the likes of captain Eoin Morgan, opener Jonny Bairstow and veteran right-hander Joe Root to score bulk of the runs, whereas in the bowling department, the onus will be on the likes of pacers Jofra Archer, Liam Plunkett, Chris Woakes and leg-spinner Adil Rashid to produce timely breakthroughs.
