Giants vs. Chargers Betting Odds, Picks and Predictions for Week 4

The future is now in New York with the Giants benching Russell Wilson in favor of rookie Jaxson Dart. He won't have an easy first start, facing the undefeated Chargers. Let's dig into the betting options for this game and discuss three wagers to consider.

Mike Barner's season record: 11-10 (-0.67 units)

Giants vs. Chargers Betting Odds

Giants: Spread +6.5 (-107 BetRivers), +255 Moneyline (Bet365)
Chargers: Spread -6 (-110 DraftKings), -278 Moneyline (DraftKings)
Game Total: Over: 43 points (-110 Bet Rivers), Under 44 (-115 BetMGM)

The Giants will be without Tyrone Tracy Jr. (shoulder), who is expected to miss at least the next two games. The Chargers are also down a running back with Najee Harris having torn his Achilles tendon in Week 3 against the Denver Broncos.

Giants vs. Chargers Betting Picks

Giants vs. Chargers Best Bet: Jaxson Dart 6+ rush attempts (-136 DraftKings Sportsbook) for 1 Unit

Dart has made brief appearances in each of the last two games, despite Wilson starting. The Giants ran the ball when he came in, leaving him with a total of two carries. His rushing ability is one of his strengths. In each of his last three seasons at Ole Miss, he had at least 119 rushing attempts and 389 rushing yards.

The Giants' offensive line has struggled, which forced Wilson to scramble to try and avoid pressure. In their first three games, he totaled 16 rushing attempts. Not only could Dart also be forced to scramble in this matchup, but the Giants will also likely have a few designed runs for him as they try to settle him into his first start.

Giants vs. Chargers Best Bet: Cam Skattebo 3+ receptions (-170 DraftKings Sportsbook) for 1 Unit

Skattebo is now the Giants featured running back with Tracy out. Even with Tracy in the fold the first two weeks, Skattebo had two receptions in each of the first two games. Across 13 games at Arizona State last season, he finished with 45 receptions for 605 yards and three touchdowns.

Tracy suffered his injury early in last week's game against the Chiefs, so we've already seen what Skattebo can do in an expanded role. He was targeted eight times, finishing with six receptions for 61 yards. In Dart's first start, we could see some short passes and check downs to Skattebo, especially early in the game. Despite the juiced odds, this is still an appealing wager.

Giants vs. Chargers Best Bet: Omarion Hampton 60+ rushing yards (-146 DraftKings Sportsbook) for 1 Unit

Hampton was given 15 carries in his first career game, but finished with only 48 rushing yards against the Chiefs in Week 1. The following week, he was given only eight carries against the Raiders. However, with Harris suffering his injury against the Broncos last week, Hampton was thrust into a larger role. He finished the game with 19 carries, which he turned into 70 yards and a touchdown.

The Giants have not faced the best running backs through their first three games. Week 1 brought a matchup against the Commanders' top duo of Austin Ekeler and Jacory Croskey-Merritt. In Week 2, they faced the Cowboys and their lead back Javonte Williams. The Chiefs have big names on offense, but their running back duo of Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt has not been efficient the last two seasons. Even with those lackluster matchups, the Giants have allowed the second-most rushing yards per game in the league. Hampton could approach 20 carries in this game, which would leave him with a great chance to finish with at least 60 rushing yards.

Giants vs. Chargers Prediction

There is finally some excitement around the Giants with the change at quarterback. If the franchise is going to turn things around anytime soon, they will need Dart to live up to the hype. While he could improve their fortunes for the long haul, this Chargers team is loaded and presents a very difficult first opponent. Don't expect the Giants to earn their first win of the season here. That might have to wait until their Week 5 matchup with the floundering Saints.

Score Prediction: Chargers 24, Giants 17
