NHL Waiver Wire: Picks of the Week

NHL Waiver Wire: Picks of the Week

This article is part of our NHL Waiver Wire series.

The condensed NHL schedule continues to keep things interesting, and 11 teams have four games this week. Boston and Montreal only suit up once because they're on the five-day bye, while Carolina, Nashville, Tampa Bay and Washington only play twice and also have their bye stretches this week.

The most intriguing widely available player with difference-making upside is Jussi Jokinen. It's been a dreadful season to this point for the 33-year-old Finn, but the Panthers are finally healthy, and Jokinen has a nice track record of offensive production. It is worth making sure Shayne Gostisbehere isn't available, too.

Remember to double-check the availability of players previously covered in this space and keep tabs on the recommended adds in the our Daily Puck articles throughout the week.

Jussi Jokinen, F, FLA (Yahoo: 29%, ESPN: 11%, CBS: 21%): The veteran has three multi-point showings over his past five games for three goals, six points and nine shots. Jokinen has also averaged 3:26 of power-play time per outing during the stretch. He's a proven scorer, and now that Florida is healthy, Jokinen projects to finish the season strong.

Brayden Point, F, TAM (Yahoo: 1%, ESPN: 2%, CBS: 9%): Since returning from an upper-body injury, the rookie has four goals and five points through six games and is playing in a top-six role. He's best left to deep seasonal leagues, but Point's value is climbing in keeper/dynasty settings.

Calle Jarnkrok, F, NAS (Yahoo: 3%, ESPN: 4%, CBS: 5%): With Mike

Calle Jarnkrok, F, NAS (Yahoo: 3%, ESPN: 4%, CBS: 5%): With Mike Ribeiro exiled to the minors, Jarnkrok has taken on a bigger role for Nashville, and the 25-year-old forward is thriving. Over his past eight games, Jarnkrok has four goals, nine points and 17 shots. There's a better than zero chance that his current run is the beginning of a second-half breakout.

Elias Lindholm, F, CAR (Yahoo: 5%, ESPN: 9%, CBS: 20%): The 22-year-old forward has caught fire with three goals, 18 points and 42 shots over his past 16 games. Lindholm is in the midst of a breakout campaign, and he's well on his way to posting a career high in the points column, and there should also be positive regression ahead of his unsustainably low 5.4 shooting percentage.

Shayne Gostisbehere, D, PHI (Yahoo: 77%, ESPN: 88%, CBS: 88%): After spending three games in the press box, Gostisbehere has an assist, five shots and five blocked shots through his past two outings. Between his minus-20 rating and recent stretch of being a healthy scratch, he could be available in leagues. He shouldn't be. Gostisbehere's 1.82 points per 60 minutes rank fifth among all defensemen with at least 2,000 minutes the past two years, after all.

Brady Skjei, D, NYR (Yahoo: 10%, ESPN: 19%, CBS: 39%): The rookie is heating up offensively again with eight points through his past 10 games, including 23 shots on net, eight PIM and a plus-8 rating. The 2012 first-round pick has also seen a slight uptick in minutes the past two games (18:14).

Michal Neuvirth, G, PHI (Yahoo: 31%, ESPN: 16%, CBS: 32%): The Flyers are searching for answers in net, and Neuvirth owns a 3-1-1 record, .946 save percentage and 1.20 GAA through his past five starts. He's currently the front-runner in the Philadelphia crease, which should provide a longer leash as the No. 1 over the coming weeks.

Players to consider from previous articles: Connor Brown, Mikael Granlund, Bryan Little, Andre Burakovsky, Evander Kane, Jake Guentzel, Mitch Marner, Alexander Wennberg, Robby Fabbri, Rickard Rakell, Anthony Mantha, Anders Lee, Jason Zucker, Sam Reinhart, Nino Niederreiter, Nazem Kadri, Mikko Rantanen, Tomas Hertl, Justin Williams, Matthew Tkachuk, Bo Horvat, Jacob Trouba, Nathan Beaulieu, Dmitry Orlov, Jeff Petry, Nikita Zaitsev, Jake Gardiner, Jared Spurgeon, Dion Phaneuf, Juuse Saros, Mike Condon, Philipp Grubauer, Anders Nilsson, Aaron Dell
