It is only the third week of the season, and yet there are some teams that are ready to trade. While I think it is still too early to make a deal (you drafted players you like and anyone can get off to a hot or cold start) plenty of poolies desire to fix their lineups quickly.
Here are some players who you could deal for and trade elsewhere.
TRADE FOR
Nikolaj Ehlers, LW, Hurricanes (88 percent rostered)
Ehlers signed a six-year, $51 million contract with the Hurricanes in the offseason after leaving the Jets, where he played for 10 seasons after being drafted ninth overall in 2014. Ehlers has had two straight 60-plus point seasons his last two years and is off to an incredibly slow start with only one assist in his first six games.
The good news is that Ehlers is seeing first-line time alongside Sebastian Aho and Seth Jarvis as well as first power-time. He is averaging 3:47 of action with the man advantage, by far the most in his career. It's just a matter of time before Ehlers starts clicking with his linemates.
Example of a completed deal from the Yahoo Trade Market: Ehlers for Will Cuylle.
Evan Bouchard, D, Oilers (99 percent rostered)
Bouchard finally picked up his first point of the season Tuesday in Ottawa after going without a point in his first six games. Bouchard got off to a slow start last season as well, picking up one

Evan Bouchard, D, Oilers (99 percent rostered)
Bouchard finally picked up his first point of the season Tuesday in Ottawa after going without a point in his first six games. Bouchard got off to a slow start last season as well, picking up one goal in his first six contests. He finished last season with 67 points in 82 games after posting 18 goals and 64 assists in 2023-24. Bouchard quarterbacks the vaunted first power play for the Oilers and should pick up plenty of points (he had 35 and 26, respectively, in his last two seasons) once Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl get going.
Example of a completed deal from the Yahoo Trade Market: Bouchard for Martin Fehervary.
Sean Monahan, C, Blue Jackets (38 percent rostered)
Monahan finally picked up his first point in six games Tuesday, a power play assist, a bit strange since his linemates Kirill Marchenko and Dmitri Voronkov lead the Blue Jackets with seven and six points respectively. Monahan was a stud last season despite missing 28 games with a wrist injury, tallying 57 points in 54 games. Monahan is still on the top line and top power play, and it's only a matter of time until he breaks out with a big game. Monahan had some big seasons earlier in his career, including 82 points in 78 games during the 2018-19 season with Calgary.
Example of a completed deal from the Yahoo Trade Market: Monahan and Tomas Hertl for Elias Pettersson.
TRADE AWAY
Shane Pinto, C, Senators (58 percent rostered)
Pinto is tied for the NHL lead in goals with seven, along with Mark Scheifele and Pavel Dorofeyev, heading into action Tuesday. While Scheifele and Dorofeyev have each had 30-plus goal seasons, Pinto's career best is just 21, set last season. Pinto has seen plenty of power-play time (3:02 per game) but he does not have a point on the pp. Pinto is centering Michael Amadio and Claude Giroux, not the greatest players (Giroux is 37 and had only 50 points in 81 games last season). Pinto's 21 shots on goal and his 33.3 shooting percentage won't hold up the rest of the season. Pinto is a very nice player, but the Senators have better weapons up front, including Tim Stutzle, Drake Batherson, Dylan Cozens and Brady Tkachuk (thumb) when he returns to the lineup.
Example of a completed deal from the Yahoo Trade Market: Pinto for Jake Oettinger.
Evgeni Malkin, C, Penguins (50 percent rostered)
Malkin is in the final year of his NHL career and is off to a great start, with two goals and eight assists in his first seven games. The 39-year-old has turned back the clock in the early going, but his fantasy managers really can't expect Malkin to stay anywhere close to his current pace. Malkin usually misses a bunch of games due to injuries, though he has played a full schedule in 2022-23 and in the following season. Malkin plays with Anthony Mantha and Justin Brazeau on the second line, and though he does play on the first power-play unit with the Penguins, he won't be able to keep up his pace.
Example of a completed deal from the Yahoo Trade Market: Malkin tor Rasmus Dahlin.
Owen Tippett, RW, Flyers (35 percent rostered)
Tippett is off to a very good start with five goals in just six games. While the 26-year-old has had three straight 20-plus goal seasons in a row, Tippett has had only one season with more than 50 points, and that was two seasons ago when he had 53 in 78 games. Tippett managed only 43 points in 2024-25, and while he plays on the top line in Philadelphia alongside Travis Konecny and Sean Couturier, the Flyers are not expected to score a lot this season, putting a cap on Tippett's offensive ceiling.
Example of a completed deal from the Yahoo Trade Market: Tippett for Jordan Kyrou.
