DraftKings NHL: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Carey Price, MON at BOS ($7,200): With just two games on the schedule, turning to Price as the lowest-priced netminder opens up spending room to slot in a number of star skaters. It's far from an ideal matchup, but he and the Canadiens will be looking to bounce back from consecutive overtime losses, and he could carry a low ownership because of his recent two stinkers. Still, he sports a rock-solid .923 save percentage through 20 starts since returning from a lower-body injury, so the upside is there.

CENTER

Evgeni Malkin, PIT at ANA ($7,100): After being held off the scoresheet for just the fourth time in 20 contests since returning from an upper-body injury, the Russian checks out as a strong lean at this price. His 1.45 goals and 3.52 points per 60 minutes are elite marks, and he's collected an impressive 12 tallies and 13 helpers during the noted 20-game offensive surge.

Ryan Getzlaf, ANA vs. PIT ($6,100): This salary isn't prohibitive enough, and the center pool offers too few options not to take a long look at Getzlaf. He's recorded three goals and 15 assists while logging 21:25 of ice time (2:26 with the man advantage) through his past 15 games, and Pittsburgh hits the West Coast allowing 3.28 goals per road game.

WING

Jonathan Drouin, MON at BOS ($5,300): The high-skilled forward enters with a three-game point streak and eight shots while averaging a hefty 18:18 of ice time (4:20 on the power play). He projects to skate on the opposite wing as Alex Galchenyuk, which has the potential to be a solid line, as the duo has combined for a 54.22 Corsi For percentage this season.

Alex Galchenyuk, MON at BOS ($5,100): In the midst of a mini-heater with two goals, two assists and 10 shots through his past three games, Galchenyuk pairs with projected linemate Jonathan Drouin to form a cost-effective stack. The Bruins are obviously a daunting matchup, but top-line minutes and looks with the No. 1 power-play unit are important from a shallow player pool. There could also prove to be contrarian value here.

Corey Perry, ANA vs. PIT ($4,900): The veteran is now three games removed from a knee injury that kept him out of the lineup for 11 contests. He has just a single goal on eight shots since returning, but Perry's price is extremely reasonable considering his role. His long-standing chemistry with Ryan Getzlaf is also worth noting, as the duo have combined for a solid 3.65 goals per 60 minutes this season.

DEFENSE

Kris Letang, PIT at ANA ($6,000): Finding room to slide in the best offensive defenseman from the player pool is advised. Letang has logged 25:49 of ice time with 3:26 on the power play through his past four games and collected a goal, two assists and 15 shots. Additionally, spending up for blueliners can often prove to be a means of differentiating your lineups.

Cam Fowler, ANA vs. PIT ($4,400): A low-priced Duck locked into a big-time role, Fowler is another option to plug in as part of an Anaheim stack. He's collected just a single assist through his past five contests despite averaging 24:18 of ice time, including 2:32 on the man advantage as the quarterback of the No. 1 power-play unit. Out of this shallow player pool, the 26-year-old defenseman is a strong lean with the potential for statistical correction ahead.
