UFC 319: MMA Betting Picks and Odds Insight
The UFC is in Chicago, Illinois, on Saturday, August 16, for a solid UFC 319 pay-per-view card. The main event sees the middleweight title on the line, as Dricus Du Plessis defends his belt against the smothering wrestling attack of Khamzat Chimaev.
Below, I'll share my UFC 319 predictions, including my favorite pick, an underdog, a prop and a two-fighter parlay. All UFC odds are via the DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the post date of this article.
Weight Class: Lightweight
Carlos Diego Ferreira (19-6) vs King Green (32-17-1)
On the prelims of UFC 319 is a veteran lightweight bout between Carlos Diego Ferreira and King Green, and I'm backing Ferreira to get his hand raised.
Green is coming off back-to-back stoppage losses in the first round, and he didn't look good in either fight. Although Ferreira lost his last fight, he still is a tough out with his striking and grappling, which should be the difference against Green.
Ferreira should be able to out-grapple Green and could even get a submission win. If that doesn't materialize, he will be able to land the better shots, as Green is there to be hit. Mixed with that grappling ability, the path is paved for a clear-cut win.

Weight Class: Lightweight
Drakkar Klose (15-3-1) vs Edson Barboza (24-12)
There are quite a few underdogs I like at UFC 319, but Drakkar Klose is my favorite pick.
Klose is taking on Edson Barboza, who's moving back up to lightweight. Barboza is a dangerous striker, and we have seen Klose get knocked out before.
However, I expect Klose to be able to use his wrestling and clinch work to control Barboza along the fence and grind out a win that way. Barboza has struggled against wrestlers at featherweight, and that should continue back up at lightweight.
Some other underdogs I like are Gerald Meerschaert (+180) and Lerone Murphy (+154).

Weight Class: Lightweight
Chase Hooper (16-3-1) vs Alexander Hernandez (16-8)
For my prop at UFC 319, I'm taking Chase Hooper and Alexander Hernandez to go over 2.5 rounds in their lightweight matchup.
Hooper is a grappler who has been a finisher in his career, but last time out, he fought a durable Jim Miller and edged out a decision, which will likely be the case here against Hernandez. Hernandez is known for his grappling, so it's unlikely Hooper will be able to submit him.
This fight will likely play out a lot on the ground and in the clinch, which will stall the fight and help the over cash. Hernandez has gone the distance in five straight fights. Since Hooper won't be able to finish him either, the over is a great spot here.
UFC 319 Bet: Chase Hooper-Alexander Hernandez over 2.5 rounds (-125)

Weight Class: Middleweight & Welterweight
Michael Page (23-3) vs Jared Cannonier (18-8)
Carlos Prates (21-7) vs Geoff Neal (16-6)
For my parlay at UFC 319, I'm taking Michael Page and Carlos Prates to get their hands raised, with both fights taking place on the main card.
Page is remaining at middleweight and is taking on Jared Cannonier. Page had a great performance against Shara Magomedov and should be able to out-strike Cannonier here. 'MVP' is a tough person to fight due to his striking style, as he should be the more active (and evasive) striker to edge out a decision win.
To close out the parlay, I'm backing Prates to beat Neal, as I believe Prates is the real deal at welterweight. Neal is a tough out for anyone at 170 pounds, and although I don't think Prates will be able to finish him, he should edge out a decision.
Prates will be able to land the more damaging strikes, as Neal sometimes struggles to pull the trigger. The Brazilian's overall activity on the feed will get him the nod from the judges.
